We need to replace the shed which is a very old, flimsy wooden lopsided mess of a shed and having come to start to look into what to replace it with see along with standard wood sheds you can get metal ones & plastic as well. Other than I assume being a bit more secure than wooden shed are there any advantages with going with a non wooden shed & if so what are they :D

What are you worried about being secure?

I expect you will need a new base. If it's bikes then you could cast a cycle hoop in the base and chain everything to it.

Windows help as the scum often look through and if everything is locked up they move on. What you don't want is them destroying a door to see everything is chained up.

We will certainly need a new base as the shed location will be moving & it may be a larger shed as we are thinking about converting the garage so the shed would become the additional dumping ground.

As for why secure, there would be a couple of bikes albeit not expensive ones plus a bunch of tools.

metal shed

Don't touch them with a barge pole. I bought a sectional concrete building with a metal roof. The condensation has been horendous from the metal roof. The concrete sections have changed colour due to them being damp. I have had to resort to using a dehumidifier to control the wetness and dampness in the shed. I would like to replace the roof of this shed. Does anyone know if I will have to have building permission. I didn't need it when I had the metal roof put on.
Kind regards

Do I need building regulations for change of a metal roof

:(I bought a sectional building with a metal roof, thinking this was the best choise. The last few days of cold weather have caused horendous problems with condensation from the metal roof. Also the colour inside the she has changed colour due to them absorbing the rain. Can anyont tell me will I need building regulations permission to change the metal roof to a more conventional one. I did'nt need building regulations permission for the metal roof.
Kind regards
Blodau:(

We got a medium sized "plastic" one from Wickes several years ago. No problems whatsoever, stays nice and dry inside and nothing has warped. Was up in 30 minutes too with 2 people.

I attempted to help a relative assemble a metal one once and it was a nightmare as nothing lined up or was massively fiddly, he ended up with a plastic one too eventually.

Its on a bed of hard core with weed membrane and 9 slabs well spaced with gravel in between, its been sat that way for a while with no sinking.

Another vote for a tigershed.

I made my base out of 2x4, with a sheet of DPM tacked onto it like so:

Took about an hour to make with basic tools. I then used offcuts of decking to level out the base.
