Hey all

Need to replace the rears on my 200 - tyre size is 255/35/18 and are currently Hankook Evo V12s. Now I have found this tyre very good and as far as I am concerned is not wanting in any area, but before I go ahead and purchase another set (Blackcircles have them at 154 quid each fitted ) is there anything else I should be looking at?

Cheers

I have Hankook Ventus 275/40/20, nothing else has compared to them... I would say go with what you have and are happy with.

At £154 the entire point in cheap tyres - that they are cheap - is lost.

Might as well get some of the new Eagle F1 Assymetrics at £167 each.

There is cheap and there is good value...
Hankook have good performance and last well, theose new tyres may be good but what is their life expectancy, might turn out to be a lot more expensive.

Look at the Evo S1, £3 per tyre more and has been rated very well in a good number of tyre tests (including topping the Autobild 2011 max performance test)

Hankook Evo's are far from a 'cheap tyre'

Heard a lot of good things about Hankook V12 and S1 EVO's so if they work for you stick with them. Never tried them myself though, but one of the guys at work has fitted the RS2's and is amazed at their dry levels of grip, wet may not be so good though. ;)

I got a set of Hankooks V12 too, done over 500mies in them now, both dry and wet and it's been really good.

Trouble is, different tyres behave differently on different cars (lots of differences there!) so really you want to ask people who have experience with them on the same car.

To be fair, the Hankooks V12s aren't a 'cheap' tyre and as I said in the OP, I have had them on for the last 30k miles and thought they were excellent. I would be quite happy to buy another set and have done with it, but would prefer to at least check what else is out there.

Maybe my search skills are lacking, but I can't seem to find the Eagle F1s in the size I need. Can you link me?
Ask on SXOC. Not that you can wrong with F1s.
The problem with SXOC is half the guys on there are happy to put 'less than excellent' (;)) tyres on there to aid in their skids :p.

Camskill have them - its a very common size as its the rear tyre size for a 3 Series Sport/M Sport with 18 inch wheels.
Ahh I was looking at Eagle F1, not Eagle F1 2 :p

Are they worth the extra ££ over the Hankooks then? Bearing in mind the £154 for the Hankooks is fitted and the £167 for the Michelins are not..
Listen to the other half then. ;)
Indeed, just thought I would ask here too :).
