What Uni are you going to?

Computer systems engineering @ Cardiff University

Good luck, just did my first year of computer science at cardiff, and the workloads pretty intense compared to other courses. Had 30 hours of lectures a week, just be aware which lecturers are useless at lecturing, but great at posting the lectures online, and dont bother with there lectures at all :p

Going back to do my second year soon, cant wait.

Hasn't been long since leaving uni but here's a shout for UMIST(Manchester) and Nottingham Universities.

Wooo welcome to Kent all those that are coming!

I hope to be seeing some of you lil freshers around ;) :p

Freshers week is the funs, freebies are the aim of the game for the freshers fair though, mostly sweets and stuff last time for me though, though got some magnetic word game which everyone had up in parkwood, ah the funs.

Could someone explain the concept of Freshers week to me? Is it just a case of getting freebies from the Uni, getting together with your new mates and having a drink?

First week of uni very little work lots of parties so you can meet every one :D

Fresher's is settling in time, getting admin and paperwork done, initial welcomes to modules, etc. But it's what happens in the evenings that counts :p

Aerospace Engineering at the university of Manchester for me. 5 Years as well :/ At least I get a Master's for it though :)

So do you guys who've been at uni at least a year reckon it's worth going to fresher's week then? I don't know why but I seem a bit put off by it. It just reminds me of the pathetic activities we did in college to meet the new peeps around us. It just made things more awkward more than anythin.

Absolutely. Regardless of what you actually do in Fresher's Week, that's the time for meeting people before your course starts. It's also generally when most unis run all their sign-up events and things, which you will miss out on completely if you're not there. It's always harder to pick up on those things afterwards. You'll enjoy it ... I promise ;)

freshers week is pretty damn awesome to be fair. still friends now with most the people i met that week. just make sure you filter out the weirdos during the first month or so

You may think it sounds awkward, but it'll be far, far, far more awkward arriving at uni after freshers' week when everyone else has already got to know each other.

Remember, you'll only ever be a fresher once in your life. Make the most of it.
