Hello.

Hope someone can help me.

I am having problems with my PC. It is taking an age to boot up from a cold start.

Once it boots up everything runs fine not a single problem, if i reset it, reboots first time. If i power off however, even for 3 mins or so it will take a while to boot up.

I have done all the usual troubleshooting but what interested me was that if i tried to boot up with just a single 2gb RAM stick it would start instantly no matter which of my 2 ram sticks i used but once i put the other stick in the problems would start again. I used them individually in all RAM slots on the mobo and all ok with a single stick.

Current Spec :
Q9450 @stock
Abit IP35-e mobo with latest BIOS
4 gb ddr2 ram, PC5400 OCZ
w7 64bit premium
512 meg, 4850 gfx
320 gig Sata HD
700w PSU

Originally thought it might be my old PSU dying so the 700w PSU is brand new but the problem still remains.

Someone suggested i may need to up my RAM voltage but i have no idea regarding this, i checked the BIOS and it said it was getting 1.90volts

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Hi
It sounds like your BIOS may be set to test the RAM duing the intial boot/POST tests. Check your BIOS to see if this is the case.

How long does it take to reach the Win 7 login screen?
1.90 volts may well be the correct voltage, but this would depend on the speed and timings that the RAM is actually running at/with. logged in to Windows, run CPU-z (cpuid.com), use the cpu-z tool to check the speed and timings of your RAM. Then check these along with the voltage against the exact RAM model at ocztechnology.com.

A crap one but the problem existed on my Akasa PSU too. Its been this way for about a year now but getting worse.

Found some info on the OCZ forums so hopefully it works now!

Well its just been turned off for 12 hours straight and turned on 1st time no problems for the 1st time in ages. WHOOOO

Solution was that the IP35 range doesnt like some OCZ ram according to the OCZ guys and in the bios if left set to Auto it might not be enough so i upped the voltage to 2.0v and it looks to be working fine.

Good start to the morning, now off to my IT job interview , fingers crossed.

Thanks, that went quite well. Sadly my booting issue has returned!

This is really annoying now, don't know what else to try!

Which slots do you have the RAM in?
