make sure the mould is bone dry. if there is a drop of water in there it will boil and the pressure of the steam will force the lead back out of the mould and onto your face / arms. <- that's the voice of experience talking btw.
be careful with this stuff, when I was making fishing leads I used to use a camping gas stove and an old pan, warming up the mould first seemed to let the molten metal flow into the mould more easily.
