What was the last decent RPG that came out ?

I'm looking to play decent RPG but I dont want to go back to 2013 skyrim.

Or any other decent recent game (does not need to be RPG)

It's short but try The Outer Worlds. Enjoyed it for as long as it lasted. Think I got maybe 25-30 hours out of it without owning the DLC. Did pretty much all the side missions too

I dunno about last decent, my chronology is out of wack. But best in recent years is easily Disco Elysium
Calling it an adventure game with RPG elements is odd given the fact that pretty much everything that happens in the game involves a slew of passive stat checks and dice rolls

As an alternative to Skyrim? The Witcher 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn, or Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The recent Assassin's Creed games are a decent shout too, given they're now basically open-world action RPGs.

But the absolute best RPGs of recent years would be Disco Elysium, Pillars of Eternity, and Dragon Quest XI. Divinity: Original Sin II, Wasteland 3, and The Outer Worlds are worth a look too.

If you like the old style Fallout games (Fallout 1 and 2) then Atom RPG is worth checking out. I only played a bit of it, but the bit I played was good. The difficulty is also supposedly brutal at times.
I really should get around to trying that game. Also in that vein I HIGHLY recommend Underrail

Honestly? Cyberpunk 2077.
I really thought it would turn out to be such an over-hyped let-down and a steaming pile of disappointing *****... but it's actually been one of the best games I've played since Mass Effect.

While it does still have some bugs and things that throw the graphics and gameplay around a bit, I've not actually had any crashes or needed to restart due to them. Mostly just minor graphical & physics glitches, and since I'm only playing on a 980 it's to be expected I think. I've had the same (and much worse) in other games, so it's not that big a deal.
Graphically, it helps if you can run things on higher settings, as it puts a very realistic edge on things and makes it that much more engaging. Usually with games I stop noticing

But the gameplay itself is pretty damn good. I've got over 240hrs logged so far and have still not finished all the different side missions, jobs, gigs and so on... but I'm going to finish them, because even after this long I'm still finding them fresh and unique- Even the encounters in Skyrim started to get a bit samey-samey after 100-150hrs in, but CP2077 hasn't done that. It's seriously impressive, and even the NPCs have such a wide variety that you so rarely see the same one twice.
Once all that is done I'll actually get back to the main plot - From the sounds of it, I'm only about 20-30% of the way through that, too!

As far as the actual RPG-ness goes, CP2077 is based on a proper tabletop RPG, so a lot of the same mechanics are present, but it also feels like you're playing a proper tabletop RPG just without having to roll dice or listen to a DM's contrived description of the encounter. Most games claim RPG status simply on the basis of being able to choose a few stats for your character progression, whereas this is one of the few that encompass a lot more RPG features.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the best RPGs I played last generation that had a AAA polish and presentation. If you haven't played it I'd definitely recommend it.

Dragon Quest 11 is like a "standard" of modern JRPGs. It's not great but it's solidly good and very consistent. I put hours and hours into it and enjoyed it.
Another mention is Octopath Traveller, it's not perfect but if you like the old school style JRPGs with some modern conveniences you might like it. It does have some design problems and story direction issues but it's enjoyable.

Then there's Cyberpunk 2077. I played it on PC at release and eventually completed it. There's fun to be had but I was also a little disappointed, not just because of all the bugs. It's got gameplay and story progression problems that hindered the experience for me. Personally I'd wait a good year before playing it because it needs some more time in the development oven. I'm sure CDPR will make it better.

Personally I've still got Ghost of Tsushima to play. Then it'll be the Mass Effect Legendary Edition in May and then the FF7R Intergrade DLC and nextgen patch in June. Hopefully by then we'll know more about Starfield.
