What was the specs of your first PC ??

Intel 486 SX 33MHz - no coprocessor for floating point functions!
4MB RAM
HDD - I don't remember, but it wasn't big.
MS Dos 6
Windows 3.11
14" VGA monitor
3.5" FDD
no CD. DVD did not exist.

The above PC cost approx £1000 back then. And was a budget pc. The PC was not a commodity in 1994.

Or else a Commodore 64 if we're counting pre-IBM PC

I still think of it fondly, never let me down. Only parts I have left are the hd and copy of windows, most of the rest went to repairing other pcs. It cost £500.00 new ….. bargain at the time cos a famous high street retailer that is a vindaloo sent me the wrong pc. The one I ordered had much poorer spec… shhhh .. don’t tell them ;)

First proper win-tel PC.

In 1993 £799 in old money bought you...

Footprint Computers (They were a bunch of boxshifters from Southampton, I think.)

AMD 386sx/33 - Apart from three very early dalliances with Intel, I've been AMD for life! Bro.;)
2MB Ram - I dread to think what type it was. :D
40MB Hard Drive - Seagate? Whatever it was I messed it up using DriveSpace compression.
256k Windows Accelerated graphics card. Cirrus Logic?
PC speaker sound. :o
14" SVGA monitor, in beige
Keyboard and mouse, in beige
1 x floppy disk drive
1 x turbo LED.

Windows 3.11 & DOS 6.22. Much love for these two bits of software.

First games played..? Either Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix, or M1 Tank Platoon. Either way, MemMaker was probably involved.
Sold her for 200 notes. I was a fool!

Going by the "PC meaning personal computer, no matter the platform" thought (which is correct), my first system was an iMac G3 tray-loader. 233MHz G3, 4Gig HD, 32MB memory, ATI Rage IIc, Mac OS 8.1.

As for PC meaning Windows PC...see sig :D

486 DX 33mhz (Had to have a co processor back then!)
4mb ram.
20mb hd.
SVGA video card.
Double speed cd drive.
Soundblaster.
Dos 6.2

Basically it rocked!

Good times.

A BBC Micro o.0

Haha I remember this one. Although I never owned one this was the first computer I used on a regular basis. Also the first one that I "programmed" on - if you count typing in from a book as programming. Had to start from scratch every time as I had no way of saving. Later we got an external floppy drive which made life so much better:)

First computer I owned was some sort of IBM compatible XT with no hard drive 2 floppy drives and a wopping 640k memory. This is where I started programming, and you really had to consider memory usage back then!

486 DX2-66 with 32mb running win 3.1 200mb hdd. I'm 27 so started a little late compared to some relics here :p
