What was your first ever PC?

My father was a computer engineer so even as a kid (im 33 now) I always had PCs, my earliest computer memory was some thing with a black background and green text with a text based construction game when I was about 6. Also had an Atari 2600 at the same time.

Had so many random computers and consoles before the 8 bit era.

Usual forum trick of trying to look oldschool by posting old home computers that aren't really a IBM PC compatible: ZX81

First genuine PC: 486 SX33 with 4MB RAM and 100MB(?) HD.

A Texas Instruments TI99/4A

The first 16bit home computer, didn't make any difference because the BASIC was so slow any 8bit computer at the time would out perform it. It was pretty rubbish for games, but I taught myself how to program in BASIC on it helped me get my Computer Studies 'O' Level.

My actual first PC was an AMD K6-2 450Mhz, 64MB RAM, 8MB Rage Pro, 80GB HDD and Windows 98.

CPU

Intel 8048 8-bit microcontroller running at 1.79 MHz

Memory:

CPU-internal RAM: 64 bytes
Audio/video RAM: 128 bytes
BIOS ROM: 1024 bytes

Video:

Intel 8244 (NTSC) or 8245 (PAL) custom IC
160×200 resolution (NTSC)
16-color fixed palette; sprites may only use 8 of these colors
4 8×8 single-color user-defined sprites; each sprite's color may be set independently
12 8×8 single-color characters; must be one of the 64 shapes built into the ROM BIOS; can be freely positioned like sprites, but cannot overlap each other; each character's color may be set independently
4 quad characters; groups of four characters displayed in a row
9×8 background grid; dots, lines, or solid blocks

A BBC Micro.... Playing Life of Repton, Chuckie Egg...

Then an Amiga 500.... and had it upgraded to a 1200 a few years later.

My first PC then, rather than a branded all-in-one, was a P75.... Upgraded the RAM myself as a teenager.

Good times.

A 486 but I don't remember too much about that, think it was Windows 3.1. The next PC we got is where my interest really started to begin; Pentium II 4XXMhz - the slot CPU. I believe it had 96MB of RAM. I overclocked the CPU by 10-20Mhz I think :p:o

I remember walking into Dixons on my lunch from work just to have a look around and saw the blade runner game. I hadnt touched computers since my much loved zx spectrum 48k.
I came out with said blade runner game and a Packard Bell, pentium 233mx, 32mb ram, 2gb HD and the standard issue Ati rage pro (tosh!) spent about £2300 lol

A few days later after reading a few mags i added a Voodoo1 and havent looked back since.

first pc we ever owned was a packard bell very similar to this one

had an intel 100mhz cpu can't remember ram or HDD size because it was so many years ago now.

can't remember if my amiga 1200 came before or after this???

Im quite new to pc's so my first one was fairly recent in the grand scheme of pc's. Spec consisted of.

A64 s939 4000
Msi k8n diamond+ sli
2gb ocz pc3200 platinum
xfx 7900gt
Samsung dvd rom
Samsung dvd-rw
Western digital caviar 250gb hdd
Enermax noisetaker 600w psu
Viewsonic vx2025.

I still have the monitor and the cpu, but its in an asus a8n sli 32 deluxe board now, but no ram for it.

C64 then 386Dx40

I`m super nostalgic about my C64, I got some of my old games on the C64 emulator on the Iphone4 :p

We had a CPC464 way back in the day. Annoyed that my Mum threw it out one day along with my Master System. Loved playing games like Bomb Jack, Roland on the Ropes, Oh Mummy and many others I can't remember the names of.

First PC was a HP Vectra with Pentium 166MMX (upgraded to 233), RAM was either 16 or 32, 1.something HDD, 2MB onboard video and SB 16 PCI. It could just about about cope with Red Alert 2 with 3 AI players but online was impossible. Bought a Voodoo 3 16MB so I could finally play 3D games. It managed to play Unreal Tournament and Lego Racers. :D SWAT 4 was too much though. :(

Same here, bought it from a guy that was getting a Sega Mega Drive when they first came out so couldn't have the 2.

Paid £150 for it :o

I sold my Amstrad CPC 464 to my cousin for £100. Well, my parents did really. I was only about 12. £100 was 'mates rates' considering all that was with it. In no time at all they were worthless and I actually felt a a bit guilty about it.

First personally owned computer: Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128K+

First personally owned Windows PC - Pentium 4 based Medion Computer.

I'm not as old as you lot.. My first personal computer was a 1ghz Duron, 256mb of ram, 1gb hard drive. First family PC was a 486 I think

ahhh bless... :)

My first was a spectrum, then a 386 greenscreen with 5.25" floppy lol, Amiga A600, Pentium 100mhz, P2 233mhz, P 466mhz, P 800mhz, AMD 1.6ghz , socket 754, e6300, Q6600, AMD 965, Sandybridge 2500k @4.6ghz

I think thats largely it.

Got a PSone when they were released, got it chipped.... :p
