Although I dillied around on my mates and brothers Dragon 32 and then Commodore 64/128 my first Micro was an Amiga 500 upgrading along the way.
My first dalliance in IBM compatibles was a 286 a local software pirate made for me.
My bro kept ranting on about "going PC" because "look at all these free Blobby disks" !!
So I got one and a Blobby disk and reading a text file on the cd it was created on an Amiga !! lol.
I spent a LOT of money upgrading my Amigas and put it in an Eyetech tower with my own first build PC.
A Tyan Tsunami P2 @300Mhz shared the same tower with my heavily modified A1200 and used "Siamese" to link the two together.
Basically the Amiga annihilated the PC but Non Linear Editing stuff was becoming available more affordably on the Pc and Commodore had gone bust.
(I videoed weddings ... and was in a video maker group.)
I really did stay with Amiga M
MUCH longer than most and ran my own User group (3Cag) and held Amiga Shows (Amiga Big Bash)
Yes.. I'm the ONE that bought an AmigaONE XE (It's still in the loft dismantled)
Here's a vid of it. It really was that responsive !
It was at that time I started delving into Linux (Debian Woody) as Amiga Os4 wasn't available for the XE motherboard at the time.
Oh.. Here's our little video groups main offering. It's about 20 years old now though !!
If you're sad enough to watch that then after the ending there are the out-takes which are probably the best bit of the whole film
