I have 2x Samsung 640GB F1 in Raid0, total about 1.2TB

I currently have 2 seperate raid volumes, one 200GB (OS, vista x64) and one 1TB (STORAGE).

I have half filled my OS Drive and my computer is now very slow at loading windows with very heavy HDD seek when loading windows. I think this is because windows files are spread all over the place (within the 200gb) now and no longer in the edge of the drive (where fastest). Defragmenting did not help at all as it is the system files spead all over.

Should I be seperating my program files and windows OS into a seperate volume/partition so that windows, with say 100gb has it all to itself inorder for windows to me more snappy? then have say 400gb for programs and games. the rest (700gb) for storage.

And as far as I know my ICR10 Raid controller can only have 2 seperate RAID Volumes, so for a 3rd partitions i would need one RAID volume to be partioned via software.

Sorry if it sound confusing but i will help clarify anything you do not understand.

I will be doing another format soon. And what to get it perfect before i activate Vista again

No point installing OS on one partition and programs on another as Windows installs other files for the programs on the OS partition anyway.

yes but only a minimal amount, the whole point is to keep windows files nice and bunched up together at the end of the drive (where it is fastest). hence my not too frequently used programs/games on the more outer (slower) part of the hard drive.

This is when my hdd is configured brandnew:

this is a benchmark for how it is now, 40% free hard disk space:
