I have been using firefox since I have had a my PC (2years)

I find the new version a bit slow can you advise whats the best FIREFOX < IE < OPERA < NETSCAPE? :) :) :)

Most people who don't like Firefox usually use Opera so give that a try :-) IE7 is also very good :D I would still use Firefox though as it supports Adblock Plus and also Spywareblaster supports Firefox (Spywareblaster blocks 99% of tracking cookies)

I up-graded my laptop on Sunday to IE 7; I have firefox on my desktop. After installation and reboot IE7 refused to load, I just got a flash like a window opening and immediately closing. In the end I had to un-install IE7 :(

I always used to use firefox, but got a bit fed up with the resources it used, so gave Opera a go. It uses about the same RAM, but I've stuck with it as I just prefer it :)

i don't know what I have done wrong but whenever I run IE7 I find it starts to spawn other windows anvertising Drivecleaner and other products and offering to check my computer. I amsticking to Firefox; the alpha 1 of version 3 is rather faster by the way.

Sounds like you have a spy/malware problem there, those are the exact symptoms. "Hey, your PC is infected with xxx virus/spyware. Vist our site and pay us £20 to buy our software". That sort of stuff?

Download and run :-

Spybot S&D
Vundofix
AdAware

As for the original question, Firefox here. I just love having it customised to my liking via the extensions.

I have installed IE7 and I like the interface. I was prepared to change back from Firefox 2 to IE but I stumbled upon a deal breaker. On Firefox I have all my favourite websites as Web Icons on my Bookmark Toolbar. I don't even have any text; just the favicon. In IE7 I "Have" to have a unique name next to my Favicon. That was enough to break the deal for me. Opera used to have a glitch where the favicon's got mixed up. So the favicon for the register would replace the favicon for bbc news. Out of the three I prefer Opera. Its highly recommended. If they could only fix that favicon problem I would go back today.

The point of my story is that all three browsers are similar and capable. My advice; try them all for a fortnight - the one that gives you the least problem is the one for you.

I'm using Opera atm,. been using Firefox for 2 years fancied a change.
Having said that, right now I'm considering going back to Firefox, lol.

I love Firefox personally. They just need to fix some memory leaks and then it'll be perfect. I couldn't have a browser that doesn't block adverts and work with Spywareblaster. Having said that a few Firefox secuirty holes have been appearing recently

Firefox is a pretty crappy browser, but then again i use it due to those extensions. You could just roll back to v1.5.0.8/9?

IE7 is a nice browser. As with spyware the best way to avoid it, is to not go to dodgy websites.

that's funny, I get that favicon problem with Firefox, and have in every version of it I've used. (a few years now). Also, I have a couple of favourites without any favicon :(

I can't stand IE7 for some reason - probably just because it's different to what I'm used to (i.e. firefox)

I've never tried opera.

I personally love firefox more because it's just a better browser. The trouble is - I had a lot of memory issues with it, so I moved to Opera.

Much smaller etc and tidier. I haven't tried IE7 though...

Not really. You can pick up the tracking cookies from adverts from websites etc. It's VERY hard to avoid tracking cookies. Spyware programs though are pretty easy to avoid :)
