Kinda torn between the Canon 10-20mm and the Tokina 11-16mm for my 650d

Cost puts me off the Canon but it is supposed to be pretty good and gives a bit more zoom range than the Tokina. If I buy the latest version of the Tokina then the Canon is a little cheaper though...

Any other lenses to consider? The Sigma 10-20mm seems ok too but doesn't seem to stand out in any reviews.

Do you need 2.8? I was debating between the two about half a year ago but decided I didn't need the 2.8, plus 11-16 is quite a short range so I went for the 10-22mm in the end. The Tokina is supposedly sharper than the Canon though.

Don't necessarily need 2.8 but it's always better to have and not need etc. I don't like the fact that I have to buy a lens that'll need to go if I upgrade to a full frame but since that won't happen for a while, it'll have to happen!

The Tokina does have a bit less zoom range but at least you get a lens hood with it as opposed to the Canon where it's sold separately.

i have the sigma 10-22 and while it does suffer from lens flair in direct sunlight PP sorts it out, the optics are very good, my lens is sharp edge to edge @ 5.6 but as i use it above that sharpness is not an issue.

What was your reasoning behind getting that lens? Price better or did you see reviews you liked?

I've owned the sigma 10-20 and the canon 10-22

I found the canon to be a lot better and worth paying a bit extra for.

I have a sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 on a 500d and I have used it on a 1ds mk1 before so it will fit a full frame (but the f3.5 wont) and I find it one of my best lenses take a look at some of my shots with this lens

Best thing to do is go to jessops or another camera shop that has a 6d/5d/1d/ and the sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 (it has to be the f4-5.6) and give it a try and also take your 650d as well and just have a play with the lenses that is what I do when getting a new lens

a side note the sigma comes with a hood and a case/bag

So is that the case with all the Tokina/Sigmas super wide zooms? Will they all fit full frame cameras too? Is it just the Canon 10-22 that won't?

The sigma f4-5.6 fits on full frame but at 10mm you lose a lot of the frame as the lens is designed for crop sensors. Still gives a lovely effect though and the focussing distance is reduced too.
