I have been interested in the Wii ever since launch but have not had opportunity to even try one until this weekend.

Having played for several hours on Wii Sports, Wii Play and wario Ware, I must say I am really keen to get a Wii, though the list of games I'd like is currently very small.

The controls for a lot of the mini games on Wii Sports and Play were absoluely great and really displayed the potential of the console and the control methods but are there any games coming which will make use of such controls?

For example, I loved playing the pool and felt that the controls were great, however in its current form, it is very limited. I'd love there to be a pool game with loads of options etc, and the controls from Wii Sports.

Another example would be the shooing, Is there a Point Blank coming to the Wii as it seems to be the perfect platform for such a game!!

Are there any such games coming?

I'm not really interested in the likes of the platformers etc etc so would really be looking for games of the sporting ilk to make the purchase a worthwhile one.

I have heard that top spin is coming on the wii, for tennis

pretty sure I have seen an advertisement for fight night 3 as well for boxing (my most played game is boxing on wii sports)

of course there is the tiger woods games for golf

no idea about a pool game, or a shooting game, but there are quite a few gun addons for the controller, so i woudl say yes.

Wii's are still pretty new, but I personally think, if they get the game support they will become THE console, there no other system that has the total emersion / game play that wii does.

imagine the next gen wii, xbox 360 / ps 3 graphics with those controls lol

Good to hear there are at least a few games coming that sound like the kind of thing I want to play.

That's what I've been thinking about the Wii, if the right games come out that really make use of the controls it could wipe the floor with the opposition in terms of really enjoyable gaming.

Even the tiny little touches like the sounds from the wiimote really helped with the emmersion. I played a bit of Red Steel (a lot of walking into walls etc to begin with) and I must say, I loved the fact the reloading sound came from your hand.

Think I'll keep on saving the pennies and get myself a wii and hope the games come.

tescos do a rent a game system

cost tenner a month and you can have as many games as you like, but only one at a time

turn around time ihas so far been 3 days (from sending one back to getting next)

I think it is a great way to test games out, in reality you are looking at 1 game a week, and you have it for 4 days for £2.50

there are slightly more expensive ones where you can have 2 games at a time if you prefer

so far i have had call of duty 3, excite trucks and mario charged footy (i enjoyed the latter but didnt really play it much because it came thursday and then i bought fifa 08 on friday, which took over as my wii played footy game)

I tend to send old game back on monday, and then have the new one by thursday, which gives me all weekend to test them :P

Check out Ghost Squad and Resident Evil Chronicals for shooting games. Both look good and give a great excuse to splash out on the Wii Zapper - which will come bundled with a Zelda crossbow mini game. There's plenty of shooting action on the way :)

Also, even though you said you're not into platform games, it'd be a crime to not at least try Mario Galaxies. It really does look amazing.

Rockstar are releasing Table Tennis shortly, which is supposed to make good use of the Wiimote.

I liked what Nintendo did with Zelda... using the clawshot, for example, showed what we can expect from future games.

Resident Evil 4 is also a good example of how to use the Wiimote.

I'd love to play a Wii version of Operation Wolf... I think that would be great.

Personally looking forward to Metroid Prime right now.As it was apparently all about how good the controls can really be.

Resident Evil 4 (although its the same), has giviin a good insight how shooting games can be with the Wii controls.

Shooter wise, go for Metroid and Res Evil 4, as has been said, and wait for Res Evil Chronicles, which has also been said.
