What would be a normal temp for an i7 930?

A lapped TRUE black, with 2 x 300-1350 rpm pwm fans, max temps under LinX, 76-71-72-70, prime95 runs about 4-5c lower per core.

Everything is stock on mine, the cooler and the clocks. it idles at 50 43 50 46 or there about, i ran prime 95 and the temps went to 90+!!! I stopped the test after a few minutes. I have a corsair 700d with stock fans. It also goes into the high 80's with C4D rendering. Is this to be expected with the stock heatsink? Im going with a h50 or coolit eco 240mm soon, i just wasnt sure if there was something to be worried about. Thanks.

Anything over 90 is something to be concerned about, especially at stock speeds. The CPU will start downclocking itself around those temperatures to protect itself from meltdown. For stock cooling this is quite high, maybe your CPU is overvolting itself. Grab CPU-Z and take a look at the VCore reading.

My idle temps are 41-42 clocked at 3.6Ghz at 600 rpm fan speed. Max load 73 degrees after 30 mins or so.

A new cooler will help a lot and will even give you some overclocking headroom.

I've an i7 930 overclocked to 4.2GHz. When I run a Prime95 or Linx stress test, Core 0 shoots up to 88~90C, other cores are 1-4 degrees behind that. I'm using a Megahalem and one fan in an Antec 902 case. Are those temp too high even for a 4.2GHz overclock? VCore is 1.325. Oh I have reseated the cooler too.
