So what would you pick?

I think
Starter: possibly nachos or the such like.
Main: I'd do a stuffed pasta, although im still learning what works for stuffed pasta (any recomendations)
Desert: a fruit tart I reckon :) always wanted to do that kind of thing. But some kind of layered fruit tart I think could be AWESOME. I'd love to do a chocolate tart but feel it might be a bit heavy after two other courses.

What about you?

I imagine you'd have to offer the producers several menus and they'd pick which one they thought would be most suitable for the show.

But in any case, people rarely seem to judge the food fairly. They make their decisions based on how much they like the host/entertainment. The food is a secondary consideration at best.

So I could heat up microwave meals for everyone, with a tesco cheesecake for dessert. And they'd give me a 8-10 if they liked me, or a 5-7 if they didn't. The fact that they ate filthy processed rubbish, would barely matter at all.

Mini smoked salmon and caremelised red onion pizzas with some sour creme based side/topping.

A bowl of Thai green curry (seeing as it's my most recent newly cooked meal) on a plate with a cylinder of rice and a mini naan.

A glass of summer berries with separate dark chocolate and white chocolate dips.

Beaucoup de vino et bierre.

I'm doing an evening like this tomorrow for some friends. I've lifted the menu straight off one I did on a course in Jan.

Starter: Chorizo and bean broth
Main: Poached chicken breast stuffed with mozarella, sundried tomato and basil with a capanata. (I've added some crushed new potatoes to that as well).
Desert: Apple tart fine with vanilla icecream

+ wine.

Chicken Hartington, parsnip crisps, roast potatoes or chips, with broccolli on the side.

Followed by a massive slice of Dime Bar cake, the orignal stuff, not that tiny knock off stuff you see everywhere

I love chicken Hartington

I think I would aim for quite a light dinner, something refreshing. But thinking about it I doubt mine would fall into that catagory:

starter: stuffed peppers with couscous, mozerlla and mushrooms (bit cliched these days)
main: creamy mushroom sauce and chicken, rice.
pudding: three deserts (had two this week, chocolate and lemon tart, it was amazing going from the rich, warm chocolate to the cleansing of the palet of the lemon)

I would want to prep as much as possible and keep it simple, but tasty.

Probably scallops and chorizo to start, followed by individual fish pies for the main with sauteed seasonal vegetables, followed by individual apple crumbles and home made custard and / or ice cream.

Sounds simple but I cook these dishes regularly and they taste amazing and are pretty simple to make with loads being able to be done in advance.

Well I think you should really go with something you've done a fair few times. It always surprises me when people go in for shows/comps like this and go with something they've never cooked (or worse, even tasted) before. This menus gone down well in the past with freinds, and it's a personal favourite of mine. Bit of a take on a traditional Welsh/British Autumn Feast. IMHO Autumn/Winter cooking is was made for British Food :D

To Start:
Mini caramelised Welsh rarebit slices (very moreish, great for whetting everyone’s appetite)

Mains:
Pan fried venison with a rich blackberry and honeyed bacon sauce, on a bed of root mash and Kale, with roast garlic potato disks and a sweet onion puff pastry ribbon.

Dessert, A choice of:
Cinnamon dusted, Butterscotch brioche bread and butter pudding
Or
Baileys (Or Merlins if you have some) and salt caramel crème brule
Or
Mixed wild berry sorbet with lime and biscotti crumble

With dessert its hard to please everyone so offering a range can't hurt. All individual ramekins/portions make it much easier to manage at dessert time, and easy to freeze any spares too, though they tend not to stick around too long. If you don't have any ramekins, treat the missus to a few of those GU desserts, that way you get brownie points and free Ramekins ;)

Even though it sounds a bit grand, most of this menu is pretty easy to prepare and cook so thats always a plus :D
