I'm wondering whether I should have bought the Ivy Bridge i5-3570K as I cant seem to have any luck in Overclocking, no matter what I do, sometime or another I'll Blue Screen, either on startup, or running Prime

I've had this running for about 1/2 hour to 40 mins It seems I can only set vcore to 1.29 or it'll crash! at 4.5 it's took some time to find this limit

Cooler is Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 Performance CPU Cooler, I've set DRAM voltage to 1.65 for 1600Mhz, Multicore enhancement disabled, Turbo Ratio 45 BCLK 100.0

does this look ok? naturally these temps wont be permanent enviroment. Hoever HWMonitor temps and RealTemps vary significantly, which is correct? RealTemp has only been running 20 mins, Prime has so far passed 2 tests 512k and 8k, how is it doing?

So should I lower the vcore a point or 2? if so by how much, and if it fails change it back? otherwise is this temp ok to operate normal computer usage

edit: also after running prime for about 80 mins now 4 tests have been passed and no crash etc.. is it ok to now close prime? or should I keep it running a little longer?

seems fine, you can run it overnight and such, but i never bothered with any of that.

just use it as normal and record any bsod codes you get (if you get any) for now, you are fine. turn off prime :)

also you wont get temps that high in games etc

I use Coretemp for temps and HWMonitor for voltages.Your settings seem fine. What motherboard? I had to make my VTT 1.100V instead of 1.050V to make ram stable. 1.29V in windows as well at 4.5GHz but runs at 72 on hottest core.

ASUS P8Z77-V LX I also re-tested today at 4.4 and got these results after 2 hours running prime95, I set LLC to high, and power phaze to optimal, and cpu to 120% Also left the RAM volatage to 1.50 for 12GB Corsair Vengeance have to say I'm happier by far with these temps

this is my last test, and if this looks ok, then thats what i'll stick with, if not then back to previous. these are my screen shots for 4.6GHz reading the above guide posted by james, I'm presuming the volts are fine?, but what about temps? Also can someone direct me in changing the cpu pll on my asus P8Z77-V LX, I can only see 2 options in BIOS Auto and + 0.010v, the +/- keys on my keyboard dont change anything
