ClockGen or CPU-z?

If i use clockgen to overclock my laptop it actually changes on clockgen but cpu-z doesnt acknowledge the change?

is there a problem where cpu-z doesnt know if the speed has actually been changed on a laptop or something...i bet it hasnt changed at all but clockgen seems to think it has..

thanks for any help

ive tried this...cpu-z just says its clocked to the original speed. Its like the system clock is locked on this laptop and no way to change it.

I need to find a program that reads the PLL: ICS 9502xx. Clockgen says it supports it in print but in the program there isn't an option so I selected the closest one to it.

thanks

Which was the "closest" clock gen you selected?

Compare the datasheets of the "closest" with the actual IC. If the mode registers are at the same address and are the same organisation within the IC then it will probably have worked. ICS clock generators are all similar so it should have worked...

CPU-z throws a benny sometimes, i wouldnt trust it 100% although generally when it gets into a mess it displays nothing, not wrong values

I changed it to what I know now was an AMD K8 PLL lol....I googled, found a forum that said pick the closest numbered one and this was it...later I found out it was an AMD one whilst looking for datasheets on PLL's.

I ran SuperPI and the times are the same no matter whether I overclock it or not so I dont think Im having any luck here...may as well give up now while its still in working order. :)
