They are vampires, not Zombies.
The beans and water are definitely a good idea. I would seriously get a load of rice [wholegrain], and tinned tuna/mackerel. Sun dried tomatoes too because they keep well and have loads of vitamin C. Also buy vitamin supplements - it's not as good as the real thing but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing.
You also have to think what you can do for entertainment to stop yourself going mad if you can't leave the house or if the internet's down. Having a lot of books is a good idea, having an instrument to hand is also a good choice, a pack of cards etc. CDs too. I wouldn't rely on an mp3 player in case the bloody thing breaks, then you lose everything. A radio is also a must.

I'm with up to here. My story would then continue:
...And nick off with some high end PC components to build a mean gaming rig with. I'd quickly nick the builders generator for the temporary lights to power my new powerful beast of a PC and some diesel, and that would keep me occupied for a good few weeks.
Water - I'll just keep the cold water tank nicely sealed.
Food - Who needs it.
Nukes - Nobody'll bother nuking round my neck of the woods, and my double glazing will keep and pesky radioactive dust out of my house.
Zombies - My house is made of bricks, my front door has lots of metal in it, and I can block the stairs off with a wardrobe. I also have a hammer in my room, and a keyboard in the next room for if it really does get bad.

There is no such thing as deep in the country side in the UK, as no matter where you there will always be someone near by.

Go to the local industrial estate. B&Q and Asda opposite eachother. Sorted for food and weapons.
Yeah but what would be worse, the zombies outside or the chavs holed up in Asda?

All I could do is fill the bath and as many orifices with water, probably go to my friends who has a well, grab my guns and shells and sit it out till we starve with my wife and two kids.
No mad max type scenario is needed, everything will be fooked, if you survive it'll be for a few days, if your lucky a few weeks.
