What would you do if there was a total doomsday type apocalypse type scenario ?

Probably regret not having a better knowledge of usable medical, mechanical and electrical knowledge, and advanced survival skills, pretty much like 99.9% of this forum.

out of curiosity, say the economy all collapses money becomes worthless etc.

why is a farmer going to trade you food for some completely useless heavy metal over say some diesel?

But tbh, I will just go cannibal and lock and load. Tbh I've been stock piling baked beans for about 6 months and i have at least 200 tins under my stairs. I also have 45 bottles of evian water and i add several to this every week on payday. I also have a decent collection of air weapons and i think if the SHTF I'd fair better than the average man, also I am a veteran martial artist so i'd be able to look after my self in a hand to hand combat situation.

So what is your plan and have you started making provisions for the impending apocalypse ?

Gold and silver has been used as money for six thousand years so it's a safe bet. He's more likely to accept silver than intrinsically worthless paper money.

If not used directly for barter, then to exchange for the new fiat currencies which will be introduced to replace the failed ones.

I doubt it would be necessary anyway, the government of the day would institute some sort of emergency powers to make sure people didn't starve.

Failing that, I'd eat my supply of food. If that didn't last long enough then I guess I'd starve to death, but someone with food, gold and silver has a better chance than someone who has sod all.

People will laugh at stinka or myself but they won't when the shelves are empty or their money is worthless.
 
A friend of mine has been preparing for this for years. He's got every survival tool and accessory you can think of (legal and illegal) plus an underground bunker which was used during WWII.

The funny thing is he's quite sain!

Personally, I've always been better at thinking on my feet so I'll wait until it happens and go from there.

Too late then.

Stockpiling food is a no brainer, you just rotate it over time, eat it and replace with new food. It is a good investment because anything you buy is bound to be more expensive in a year and you won't get such a good return in your savings account.

If anyone seriously thinks having a stockpile of beans/food when a nuke hits will give them a better chance of survial than me.......

They're idiots.

Plus, who really wants to survive a nuclear war? Zombies yeah, but not nuclear!

In which case I would just take out someone who had stockpiled everything, thus doing all the hard work. When the rules go out of the window I don't have to play nice :)

Nerds love to fantasise about these kinds of things because they try to tell themselves its society's structure that is holding them back when in reality they would be one of the first people to be obliterated.
