Hiya :)

Well in about two weeks time, I hope to be sitting infront of a new TV. I have been researching and researching for weeks and still at square one. So the question is. "Would you save money and get a non 1080p/24 set and get some nice speakers with some of the saved money and wait a few years for 1080p sets to settle in and be bug free, or go for the full whack, knowing that only a select few TV's can do 1080p/24 but have problems?"

The ONLY Tv I know of (And have asked AV Forums) to work with 1080p/24 with PS3/Xbox/DVD etc is the Samsung M86/87 if you get the one with the new firmware, but still a lot of other issues with cloudyness etc, so, hope you can help with what I do. Keeping in mind, I dont have a big budget, but I do want to watch Blu Ray / HD in the future.

Hi

I have had a 40" M87 for about a month now, have been running it with a PS3 for gaming and Blu-ray movies.

I have to say that the picture quality is superb from these sources, no ghosting at all, I don't have Sky HD yet (still negotiating) so I can't comment on the HD content or the up scaling from this the HD box.

SD channes from my Sky+ box are fine, it really does depend on the channel and time of day.

You mention the firmware, I have no idea which firmware I have on mine, and don't know how to find out, if you can tell me which is the newest firmware version I will see If I can find out what mine is.

I would also recommend getting the 40" or above which comes with the 'super clear panel' technology as this produces very, very, good black levels.

Well I hope this helps

Rich

ps if you hunt round on line you can pick uo the 40" version for around £880

Thanks.

I think 37" is the ultimate max as I will be sitting about 4ft away on average. Erm, the "1013" firmware is suppose be "Okay" if it was installed mid june, and the "2000" firmware is suppose to be working perfectly. Im not too sure how you check

4ft?

Anything above 32" @ 720p is overkill. Buy a nice Sammy and wait out until 1080's more concrete.

In the PS3 settings is 24hz enabled?

To the OP it might be worth waiting for sonys new W3000 this october. I bet it will be pricey though.
