I'm currently working for a company and it has taken me just over 2 yrs to get to where I am, just to find out we MAY be getting made redundant. They need to cut 25% of the people, so do I get another job now and take a new job if i get it, or do i wait it out?

They will tell us which 25% of us go when they make their choice in 3 weeks, and then we have a 90 day conseltation period.

So, Do I get another job and go before they announce it, or do i stick it out and then look for a job in those 90 days???

I have tried so hard to get to this job for over 2 yrs, and another company will not allow me to have the access and flexibilty that i have here.

Anyone work in a computer company in Nottingham????? I need a job :s

Wait it out. You may or may not get made redundant but if you leave before the decision is made then no redunancy money. 90 day consultation period after an announcment is long enough to get a new job. Could be a nice bonus a payout then straight into a new job.

Stick it out but start looking. If you find something else in the meantime then try and apply for voluntary redunancy if your employer is offering it.

Look for a job and see what happens.

Sounds like good advice to me.

If you have financial commitments then it would be advisable to move. Otherwise, take the gamble. You might be better off as a result. Then again, you might not have a job for the foreseeable future.

Becarefull about voluntary redundancy, if you have credit agreements with redundancy protection, they may not cover you for this.

This is another issue, Im not getting redundancy pay. The company I work for have 2 different companies but the same business.
We all work side by side and when I worked for *Employer 1*, they were telling me that the job I want is looking for people but I'd need to change my contract over to *Employer 2*, therefore I started a new contract 6 months ago so sadly, no redundency pay for me :(

Get your CV upto date, get to some agencys and see what the market is like, then if the worst does happen, at least you have a head start on getting a new job.

id start looking for a job you probably wont be offered anything till the 3 week period is up and if you do u can always turn it down

I may be in a similar position soon and I'm already onto the 2nd round of interviews with a number of potential employers, in my situation I'd rather jump ship before it sinks but if you can afford the risk then holding out may pay off in the end. Get your CV out there and start looking ASAP. You have nothing to lose by starting early and getting your feelers out.

apply for jobs, the worst that can happen is you find out your not being made redundant have an offer for another job which you can turn down and stay with current employer

I've been with a company over 5 years, i'm in the position I want to be.
However now it's a high possibility that i have to move to america or hand my notice in.

I will probably never get a job that pays this well ever again and it's been a great time at my work place.
But just in case, i am looking for more work.
I'm going to have to sell my M5 if I can't get another job paying close to what I am earning.

Ahh well, I guess it'll put me on par with everyone else my age wage wise.
