What would you do?

I don't have a landlord ?

The only people I could think of contacting would be the maintenance company who cut the grass... and urm that's about it lol :D

It's a flat yes?

Then you have a landlord aka the freeholder. If you've purchased the flat on a leasehold then I'd do what the hell i'd like on my parking space.

Obviously assuming it's a leasehold.

If it's freehold then do as above as well and put a post up :)

edit: obviously after teh car has gone ;)

No I own the apartment, one of 6, and then the spaces are next to the building. I don't know if I actually own the land of my space, or if it's just assigned to me. Might be worth me finding out actually..

if there is no landlord, i'd just do it.

About the only complication i can think of, is if local residents complain to the council your obstructing a public road.

However i suspect they are more likely to ask where you got yours from !

If you have a spare £8 go here:

http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/www/...9ZQnB3LzZfTEY1NDE4RzdVMU9TRjBJOElDODNVVjIwRzI!

Put your number and address in and it'll give you your title details which will show a plan of what you own :)

It sounds like a share of freehold and if the space is allocated to you in that then it is yours for some considerable time.

I can hear it: BOLLARD TIME!

Edit: damn link doesn't work properly. At the top is "find a property" click there and follow the instructions.

Cheers for that, SeatIbiza, I shall look at that later when I'm home.

MrLOL I wouldn't be obstructing anyone as the spaces are set back from the road, so there wouldn't be a worry with the neighbours. :)

what i was trying to say is if you legally dont own the land (of course we're not currently sure, you'll have to check your deeds) then in theory the land would be classed as public road. So if you did stick a post on it, although its "your" drive you'd be blocking access to public road.

To know if you can do it legally or not, you'd have to check your deeds, But personally, even if you dont own it, i dont think anybody is going to complain for the reasons you jsut said.

MRLol - i don't understand what you're getting at??? The guy has already said it's off the public highway and obviously you can't just find a patch of road and put a bollard up because someone else parked there!

It's a parking space and the likelihood that it is public highway is extremely low and bordering on nil. The only way would be on street parking and then you'd hardly consider that a parking space let alone "your" parking space!

Let him confirm he owns it and then stick a bollard in on his land once th car has been removed.

I'm assuming his place is a small flat development with parking round back/side/front hence it's private property whether it's the OPs or otherwise!

Anyway scooby let us know!

if he doesnt own it who does ?

I'm speculating on a possible scenario whereby when he bought the flat he didnt get the land with it, and im saying that it may be possible that if nobody owns it it may be counted tecnically as part of the public highway.

Anyway, the argument is all speculative, Kosta will have to check his deeds.

I'd do the "who's got most to lose here" review. If he's in a banger and you're not then I'd leave it be.

Clearly this is thought number 1. If you want to get into shennanigans then find your car is damaged then you've lost out on more than a minor irritation.
