Poll: What would you do?

I was in Gunwharf Quays earlier (not that it matters I suppose), getting some money out, and there was a guy at the machine next to me on the phone. He suddenly ran off, nothing out of the ordinary I guess, but then the machine he was at started beeping repetitively. I looked over and there was a load of cash waiting to be taken. Nobody was around, so I could've taken it, but instinct told me not to.

It was eventually swallowed back in 30 seconds later or so.

So what would you have done? Taken it or left it?

If it was sitting in the cash machine and no one was around (an impossibility) I'd maybe take it. But having seen the guy, **** no would I take it. Leave it, let the machine swallow it and if need be stop someone else from taking it.

I would have taken it, and looked for him, if he returned I would have given it to him. There's no point in just leaving it, because someone else will just take it then.

That's kind of a non sequitur as the machine will swallow the cash after 10-45seconds (depending on the machine).

I didn't know machines took it back. I would have taken the money out the machine and gone inside and handed it in.

Under normal circumstances I'd leave it knowing that the machine will take the money back and re-credit the account. If the person was still close I might take the money and hand it to them but more likely I'd still leave it as they can always go back to the cash machine but if I didn't manage to catch them I'm then wandering about with someone elses money.

Taken it and hung around for a few minutes to see if he came back, someone else might take it anyway. Then perhaps turn it in or something, depends on the surroundings I guess.

Unsure what I'd really do though until it happens to me
