Exact same thig happened me a while back in Park Centre Belfast. Went to put my card in and notice £110 sticking out of the slot. Walked into the bank and there was a large queue, went back out ot the door and seen a guy looking around, he seen me looking at him and enquired if i was last at the machine as he had walked away without taking his money from the slot. Made sure it was his by asking him how much was there then gave him it. :)
 
Some older machines don't record how much money is being sucked back in - they just assume that it equals the amount dispensed. abank manager I know told me about a scam where you withdraw £200, use a pair of tweezers to remove all but one of the notes, and have your account credited with the full £200 when the remaining £10 note gets sucked back in.
 
Got hold of it and held it.

Cash machines used to do it years ago and you could hold onto the cash, the machine would beep and try to take it back in but would register that it was returned :D
 
Taken it, if I'd have seen the guy later then I'd have given it to him, otherwise I'd have kept it. Teach him not to be silly.
 
Similar thing happened to me about a week ago.

Was at the cashpoint waiting behind some guy, then the machine gave his card back and he went back over to his car, leaving his wad of cash in the machine.

I could have let him drive off and taken the money for myself, but I grabbed the money and called after him.

Was pretty funny, a bunch of hotties was passing just when I was calling ""You left your cash in the machine!", and they were laughing at him.

He must have felt like a right tit. :D


But yeah, to answer the question, no I wouldn't steal someone elses money.

No it wouldn't. The money goes into a holding box and isn't returned to an account until the dates and times were synced. Now it's more automated.

Well I never said I was a nice guy. In that situation I would have taken it and I know I would , so might as well be honest about it :)
