What would you have done?

I'd be interested to hear offence you were arrested for.

To be honest i only got to ask the once as i explained above, the response was the woman phoned 999 as she thought i was stalking her, if that was the offence they arrested me for im not sure. It was a blur to be honest because i couldn't believe what was going on, i thought it was a joke at first and was actually laughing.

e: This was around 8 years ago also.

I understand exactly what was probably going through your head OP, i had a similar experience a while back but not involving a child.

I was driving down a road where i am from and around 100 yards in front of me a middle aged woman was crossing the road with her dog, i little terrier type, she then continued up a street just off the road i was driving along.

Now as i got to where she crossed a bloke came walking the opposite way up the road i was driving down, also walking a dog, the dog was a pitbull type and he was what as i would describe as a U WHAT M8 type, the dog was yanking his shoulder out of his socket and foaming at the mouth, looking very aggressive etc and walking approximately 50 ish yards behind the woman with her little dog.

So i am thinking to myself if she stops for some reason then the guy and his dog will be very close to her and i just had an image of her dog and possibly her seriously injured if that pitbull gets anywhere near her, so i turned up the street and caught up just behind her, she looked around at me so i said, hi, i am just making sure you get where you are going ok, me presuming she had seen the pitbull around 50 yards behind her, she looked at me funny and about 20 yards further she opened a front gate to a garden and on into the house, i thought ok great, atleast she is home and I thought nothing of it again and continued on.

I stopped at a co-op shop further down the round and it was busy so i was in there around ten minutes, when i came out there was two police cars around my car and 4 police officers, i thought wtf, i walked over and one of them said is this your car, i said yes, as soon as i said yes i was cuffed and arrested and in the back of a police car.

So i asked one of them in the car what have i done, she said a woman had phoned 999 and reported that she had been stalked by a man and gave them my car reg etc, i was sat there in shock :)

In the end i told them what i was actually doing and the woman came down with an officer and they told her what i said, she only believed the story because she said as she was looking through her window and on the phone to the police she said she did notice a guy walk past her house with an aggressive looking dog.

So, never again will i stop :)

I'd hope most women would call the police if some random bloke was following them around in his car and then proceeded to tell them they were glad they got home safe.

Surely if you had mentioned the big scary dog and it's owner it would have put the womans mind at rest, instead i can see how it came across a bit stalker!

Also having no clothes on underneath your trench coat didn't help.

I understand yes but i thought she had noticed the dog behind her, and :)

To the OP in this day and age you would be thought of better if you ran her over than stopped to ask if she was ok.

Very sad times we live in.

Now I did consider stopping but then in my head I thought to myself do I really won't to stop and talk to a child while I am in a bit white van given the pitch fork generation we are currently living in.

Now roll on to 10pm and it turn out the girl had left home and the first the parents knew about it was when the police turned up to arrest them.

So I feel a little guilty that this child was wandering the streets for about three hours and I drove by.

So, OcUK, would you have stopped?

Lmao,

Yup welcome to the world, everyone is a murderer and a paedophile...

Reddit talked about this actually, big discussion and a good portion were saying do nothing or call the cops and leave it at that. I'm not going to be lynched by a mob of morons. And I also somewhat agree....

Didn't take long for something like this to come out. Was actually a similar story on reddit a kid was lost this guy asked the kid where his family were, and he said basically he decided to walk to nearest shop up ahead and call the cops but as he did parents come out of nowhere, he got attacked. No good deed goes unpunished.

And this is why I won't help anyone. Unless it's a dude, he'll be less likely to play the victim card and I won't be lynched by psychotic parents.

Also having no clothes on underneath your trench coat didn't help.

HAHAHAHAHAH
