hi im new to this forum and what a great one it is anyway the main reason i joined it to get some advice on a pc i want to build in the coming months. At the moment i have an old xps m1710 laptop for gaming which was good in its time but can not run any of the newish games on high settings.

I was thinking of going AMD as i am hearing good things about them vs intel ;). I have never had an amd pc only intel so would be good to see how they compare, i play cod and bfbc at the moment on lowish settings which is still pretty decent but i want more :D. I would ideally like a pc that can run bc2 on high to max settings as this game is a beast. I am also at uni and now require a better pc for video editing.

My budget is fair i think £400-600.

so what do you guys think i dont intend to run crysis or any of the real demanding games but would be nice to have that option.

i will be running the pc on a hp monitor 19" 1440x900.

cheers

Ricky ;)

Welcome to forums, how does this look? Uses a 6 core AMD for your video editing, you still have some budget spare so if you wanted you could up the gfx card to a 1gig 460, maybe even a 470, or an AMD/ATI equivalent, 6850 maybe

right cheers for the info guys as for video editing im now sorted heard its no longer a part of my course :P. so its purely for gaming now so would you say stick to an x4? instead of x6? also i really like the coolermaster storm scout case and can stretch a little further on budget is this case suitable i just like bling and stuff and elite 430 is kinda fugly :S also wouldnt an ati card be more suitable for a amd system?

Yeah that case is fine, good case, go for it
Re CPU yeah a phenom x4 will be fine for gaming, save a bit
Re gfx, it makes no difference whether you go NVidia or ATi unless you get an 890 or older 790 mobo which would allow for future Xfire in which case yeah ATi would give you more options in the future, otherwise either will do, I recommended the 460 as they're a great price ATM

so to confirm this would be ok?
