I only really posted in motors towards the end, and it became increasingly toxic, opinionated, argumentative, abrasive, and show offy, until I decided I was fed up with it.
On top of that GD became a place where phobic views are allowed to go unchallenged, and even the quality of advice given in the tech sections is dwindling.
There are lots of good people on here still, but the golden days are definitely over.
A few of us escaped to a Discord I set up.
My 'last active' prior to this reply was because of posting in the CS section.

I don't remember a time it wasn't.
Perhaps the forum has always been this way, and the only thing that changed is me noticing... I've been much happier since leaving. Perhaps it's something more people should try, if they find themselves spending a lot of time here...
Anyway, it made me chuckle that I ended up getting name dropped in a thread like this...
I'm doing fine. Still playing with *** you know the rules about fully starring out swearing ***. Although it's been almost a year since I bought something.

Personally found your projects interesting.
As long as I can remember my posts in that section seem to attract a smattering of spiteful replies but I've a thick skin personally.
If anything Motors is much much better now that it was previously - it used to be awful. Funny because none of those personalities would've been shown in the real world, just a bunch of geeks trying to look cool on the Internet.
Goes beyond that - must be some seriously miserable people in real life given the spite behind a fair few posts aimed at me and 1-2 others like Acme.
Yes. Pre ACME was much worse, hardly any old posters posted and new ones were just ran out. Mostly the horrible personalities were mods or friends with mods, so it didn't change for a long time. Then the scammer happened, who was even allowed his own thread. Good times for some drama, if you didn't involve yourself though.
OcUK used to be a place I would accidentally spend all my time on during work, and get told off for it I recently came off all social medias and found myself browsing OcUK more as a result of it, but you can really tell the age of the forum is dwindling. The PC games forum can sometimes have threads not posted in that day on the front page, which never used to be the case!
However personally I find my need to interact much with forums is much reduced too. I can go in to a thread and see nothing but bickering, start writing a reply and think to myself, “why engage in a conversation with people who are happy to spend all day doing this”?
Always nice to see the odd familiar face around here though (including Begbie, I was MerlinBrah on Discord
)

I've definitely become more like this, more so after the number of covid threads in the covid sub-forum.
I have honestly never added anyone to my block list since joining, but the past few months listening to some absolute cretins post in the covid threads. My block list is now building.

Glad to hear you're doing well anyway, and that there are no new cars added to the pack. Ihave eben a lot happier here since I started ignoring all sorts of *******.
The bigger question is: What happend to @cheesebury?

Glad to hear you're still doing well fella and feeling positive in general, and good to hear you dropped off for your own choice and not ill health or anything like that. Always a little concern when someone goes from a regular poster to suddenly nothing

I actually used to enjoy his car threads as they were a breath of fresh air to the standard mondeo threads at the time.
Granted most of the slammed cars were terrible, but there was always one or two decent cars in there. Apparently I have to wait 10 mins between sending messages so I'll just stick the invite to the discord where some of us reside, here: https://discord.gg/m5Yg3zXh
