what's a good graphics card

Ideally you want to aim for an i5-3570K with a Z77 motherboard. However, the next generation of Intel CPUs will be released soon, so I will wait for that.

As for graphic cards, Nvidia's 700 series is apparently soon as well, so best to wait for that too.

How much they will cost, no one knows, but it might make the current stuff cheaper.

So many new stuff coming around...

Don't bother fellas your'e being trolled.

Why? He/she could be genuine and asking what he/she can get for a max budget of £500. because they are not as clued up as you, you describe the person as a troll. See what they have to say first before calling people troll.

OP if you are not sure what you really need. What games are you playing currently or planning on getting. If you are not sure what your monitors native resolution is tell us the size of the monitor (19" 22" 24" etc) we can get a ruff guess the native resolution is. Also have you got case, power supply, windows 7 or 8 and hard drives etc.

The good people on here can suggest a computer build at your budget and needs.

i5 3570K best all rounder. 8GB PC12800, H77 / Z77 (if you want to overclock), 7850 / 660ti / 7950 / GTX 670, depending on your allegiance and budget, a bronze-certified 550W PSU, decent ATX case. That's around a good gaming PC, ranges between £650 to £850 with decent components.
