im still in the process of researching upgrades for my computer and so im checking out the i7 as 4c/8t seems more relevant nowadays, so might be worth it over an i5k, not to mention i dont like win 10, so ryzen is no use, but i dont know what a good price is for an i7 given its end of life, im not buying yet, however nearly 300 if not over 300 seems steep for a 5/6 year old processor.

You'll find that they may become cheaper since Intel are going to start offering an actual performance increase with the next bunch of CPU's going Hex core, and obviously some people will upgrade to Ryzen also. I would say that you will probably see the prices between £100-120 by July/August time, second hand ofc.

Oh and it was release Q2 '13 so it's just 4 years old. :)

In the MM £140-150 for a 4770k and £150-160 for a 4790k. Don't even consider ebay as they are asking more than the 4770k's cost when they were new. Try to get a 4790k if possible as they are better clockers and even if you can't overclock they have a higher clockspeed.

thanks for replies.

i think i mustve looked at an old price or expensive site when i was seeing them over 300 and not new, i dont use ebay so not worried about those, but i notice cex is selling for £185 which is probably too much if you can get them cheaper and despite my post count i cant yet see the MM, i guess ive just been seeing a lot of over priced items. £150 is a good price considering the i5 4460 and similar sells from £80 it seems and are much weaker. im keep my eyes peeled in case any good ones go for 100 ha
