hopefully for a good price, but picked up a mobo combo last night for £50 and just set it up in my cube case and all seems fine, (need to install windows and go from there for further checking) , so going to plan to upgrade it over the next couple weeks or so.

what the bundle consists of:

Asus P8H61-MX - M-atx
pentium G2020 + stock cooler
8gb kit of 2x4 XMS3
backplate

now i looked up cpu support before i purchased and this G2020 isnt listed, but is working, so i dont know what that would mean for other models not on the list, but are 1155 socket, but its a proper board unlike that acer veriton i had, so there are better options either way and i will be getting rid of the q6600 system for this, so want it to be fairly decent, but not expensive either..

i have seen a gtx 660 direct II for £40 which i was going to get instead, but this bundle was better spend of the money, so if that is still available come the weekend then i will get that, so the cpu will need to be pretty decent, however as i have my 550w evga psu installed, i wont limit myself on gpu choice other than nvidia as i have put my GT610 in it to make it usable(hdmi only screens), so will be easier for drivers.

The best CPU for your H61 motherboard would be the i7-3770, if you can get a good deal. Alternatively, you could also go with either the i5-3570S - £35 and i5-3570 - £55, both at Charlie echo X-ray... :p

thanks for reply.

ha yeah i have seen those at that store as thats where i mostly look, but anything i have seen is at a store too far for me to collect and as a first online purchase id rather spend under £20 with the mix reviews of correct/working item turning up, rather not risk a high purchase for a bad first time experience..... id happily get an i7 if that comes up at bargain price, but id likely just get an i5, at that same shop which ive noticed in stock in a store close to me has a 2400s for £25, but its having the time as i work 2pm-10pm.

reason i ask is because ive had boards for 1155 or 775 with an i3 or quad before and the boards were not suitable for the best performance experience because they were not the best models and i dont know what this modle board i have is like.

I'd go with the i5-3570S for £10 more, it delivers 25% more multi core and around 20% more single core performance over the 2400S. :)
