I have heard this term crop up more and more. Asking some of my friends, they have been pointed out to me, and they look like a modification of Goths, with tighter clothes and slightly less suicidal tendencies.

So what are they, what music do they identify with, what do they class themselves as, how do they fit into modern society, and are they a threat?

It's just a subculture. They have silly hair and wear girl's trousers.

lol that made me laugh a bit.

Credit goes to whoever said that first, it wasn't me. :)

Here is a probably more serious definition of emo, I am unsure of its accuracy, as is everyone who defines themselves emo; They are unsure of everything, hence the staring at their shoes which they must be sure of being crap since they are usually converse allstars. ;)

stereotype/dress sense.

black hair, over face, tight jeans, converse, little "ballet" shoes, funeral for a friend, hoodies, famous stars and straps etc etc.

emo = all of the above + they cant look directly at cameras, seems to blind them, instead they look away and cover half their face with hair while pouting, thinking this will look good on myspace
