What's been your biggest/worst 'moment'??

<rubs hands together>

Oooh where do I start.

Well, defintaley the most brown trouser moment when I look back, although I was completley calm at the time. I was sitting on the A51 nr Chester waiting to turn right. A 1/4 mile back a big Scania artic rounds the corner. Look forward, cant turn, oncoming traffic. Look back - lorry covered half the distance. "Christ - he's motoring" I thought. Look forward, cant turn, oncoming traffic. Look back "He's still not stopping!" I think. <turns wheels straight, puts in 1st gear> Franticly look forward, cant turn, oncoming traffic. Look back....

<slow motion>

...I see the top of the scannier lorry. Its hammering the brakes. It must still be doing 40. The gap closes. No more road. BANG!

</end of slow motion>

...whoosh <BANG!> see my left hand wing mirror launched into the distance as the mahoosive artic flies past, on the pavement. I still do not know how it went passed. I dont know how It didnt wright my car off. 3 more inches right and it'd been a total wreck.

A little ex-rolls-royce bodyshop blokeh later and all is good :D

...oh and driver was foreign. Tried the 'i dont speak english thing'. Reported to the police, didnt want to persue case. He was Belgian. hey ho.

i fixed that GS...back to it's revable past the redzone state... and the KR1 doesn't have a top end you muppet! ... that just wore out!

Probly most browntrouser moment i can remember was when going to Mallory on some fast A road on me ZZR which had bad brakes at the time with a pillion, following a mate on his VFR400.....
Anyways... we think we are starting to get lost so slow (to about 70) to look at signs .... turn back from looking at a sign to see the tail of the VFR in the air and waving about.... WTF? I think... then notice a stopped fiesta in the middle of the road wanting to turn right.... jammed on the brakes... it weren't gonna happen so managed to dive around the left of the car as it were a + junction... mate managed to get some control and dive round the right of the car.... we passed the driver at the same moment either side... they must've pooed 'emselves too!

Well, for me driving was when a child decided to get his ball in the middle of a slippery 40mph coast road+I was only a learner.. I was doin 40 on the button + This kid just ran out in fornt of me..
Some serious braking, just on the limit before skidding, and just managed to miss the little bugger..
Gave me the fright of my life!!
Yesterday wasnt a very nice day either
It had been raining all night + we (Me+my m8s) had been at an all night party..
The next mornin we decided to go down to the town+harass one of our friends who works in a pub
Neway..
going down a hill with 6 in a Punto 60SX + suddenly the minivan infront of us stop dead..
We were doing about 30 + it was a seriously steep hill..
neway..
He's not the best driver (found out later that he's only on a provisional) so he jammed on the brakes, and on we slid towards the back of the van..
Twas very scary..
He turned into the kurb+just avoided hitting the Van (about 4inches)
Would have been terrible if he had crashed: Sole provisional driver, probably slightly over the limit + 4 in the back, none wearing seatbelts..
P.S: dont flame me for the above :s

Possibly when i was in Turkey. Got a hire car (small Fiat saloon) no ABS etc.

Prob doing about 60-70 on their "motorway". Turkey is very sunny and they have traffic lights on some parts of said "motorway". The traffic lights are very dim in the sun.

Anyway, myself and gf and friend all noticed at the same time the lights were red (prob when the traffic from the x-roads started moving. I hit the brakes, all wheels lock, os i figured no ABS and very quick thinking & reflex i do my pumping brake pedal thing from my driving lessons. COming very close to junction and realise we wont stop, so i floor the brake and yank the steering wheel to the right and come to a 90 degree stop at the lights!

Mucho smoke on the road behind us!! Was a very brown pant moment, but funny to look back on.

hehe, u remind me of a hugely hilarious incident last year overclocker:

I was following a mate home from a gig (he plays bass, me sax) through Bedford town center at about midnight. He's a bit scatterbrained and is always getting lost and stuff, and we came off this roundabout, one after the other, and the next set of traffic lights was red, so i started slowing down, but me mate missed the lights and carried on. There was no traffic coming from the other direction, so he would have gotten away with it....but, he slammed on his brakes in the middle of the road, came to a halt...cue comedy reversing back up to the white line in the lane next to me!!! Also cue much laughter from my car in the direction of his car....hehe :)

when i first learnt to drive i bought a mini van
then seriously modded (1300 allegro engine :D ) couple of light here and there and i was the kiddie

out with a mate one night at a local pose your motors spot
i thought i would be king and do a handbrake turn in the road :eek:

up comes the hand brake around comes the car up goes the frontend on to the grass embankment and on to the side we go,

we slid down the road for a good 30-40 meters sparking as we went my mates foot firmly implanted in my head trying to climb out the door:mad:
stopping just in front of the gals we were trying to impress
i nearly died with embarresment.

i never drove on that road again for three years then the next time i drove down there with my woman in the car there was a little old nova on its side in the road .

boy i am glad i didnt do that :D :D

80mph tank slapper on a CX650 (along time ago) came off green stick fracture in a vertebrae in my neck, and had the gravel scrubbed out of me elbow :D

Overtaking a car on the hills going up to Holyhead in my GPz900R
in the wet, and I saw a car coming around a blind hairpin out of control and the caravan swinging sideways onto my side of the road (after I took the car) I must have had about 2ms of decision time before I decided to go for it rather than brake. Just made it.

On the same trip deciding to see how "she'd do" on the M32 getting caught in a sudden downpour at 140ish and the blind panic of passing a large lorry spraying out about 200 gallons of rainwater from its tyres. Slowed down after that.

Sitting in traffic on the M25, doing about 5mph, I hear a huge BAAAANG....wtf was that? I think, and look at my rear view mirror, and see the result of one artic ramming another artic. Unfortunately, the artic in front is now heading straight for the back of my car. It is all so fast, so dont have time to do anything really, then CRAAAAASH, im hit, back of the car is bent up. Was only a 1989 Golf, so wasnt to bothered. Woke my passenger up quite quickly though :D

My most scary moment though was riding up the M1 in the dark, raining, on my motorbike. Ive got really bad vision because of the rain. Next thing I know, a car has pratically stopped in the outside lane. I slam my brakes on my about 2 seconds, during which time I decide that braking just isnt going to work!, so I attempt to swerve to the left. I remember thinking..."Im going to hit, im going to hit!", it was that close. Luckily, I scrapped my exhaust along the rear bumber as I passed, and then ended up in the middle lane, rather shaken up. Totally my fault though.
