What's been your most "next gen" next gen game (not just this generation)

Gran Turismo on the PS1. I remember we got it for Christmas and my brothers and I were blown away. I vividly remember saying that it looked photographic :D.
I had a mate who was brilliant at getting the licences when I was struggling to even pass B. We all gave him our memory cards and he painstakingly passed all them for us. What a trooper! :D

Those licences were not fun. I don't think I got that many as I was so used to playing casual games.

F-Zero on the Super Famicom (there was ages between the Japanese and European releases in those days) , it was the fastest most intense game I'd ever played.

Starwing on the SNES was such a major leap in graphics from my 128k Spectrum, I thought video gaming had reached its absolute pinnacle!

Metal Gear Solid and Res Evil made me get a PS1 and i think it was TLOU that made me get a PS3 and then PS4 (along with Res Evil releases).
Yeah I think Metal Gear Solid (or the trailer at least, which I had on CD-ROM) was incredible

I remember watching that over and over and showing it to one of my mates as I couldn't believe what they were showing and how cinematic it looked compared to other games that were out at the time.

Somehow I ended up getting the Japanese import which came out 6 months before the EU version.

Gran turismo PS1
Resi 4 GameCube
Soul caliber, resi code Veronica on Dreamcast

Dead rising on 360. Just remember being wowed with how many on screen enemies there were.

I’ve had a series x since launch day, playing on a LG OLED and obviously it looks good but never really felt it was pushing the envelope. Having recently got a PS5 I played first hour or so of last of us remake over the weekend. That early section in the sewers and flooded collapsed roads is absolutely stunning. I’ve been gaming for nearly 40 years and I think that is the best I’ve ever seen. Really feels like the next generation has arrived.

I've been thinking about it and nothing comes close to RDR2 for me if judged by this aspect alone. It's simply out of this world, packing more detail and nuance that many linear games that can afford to be more detailed...

The deliberate animations, the animal behaviour, the entire ecosystem and how the world reacts to you. It all becomes a part of gameplay and immersion and to the level I've yet to see replicated.

Not saying it's an impeccable game in every regard but it really made me feel immersed in even the simplest things like completing the compendium, hunting etc. because it all felt like a natural extension of the setting.

Visually, Horizon 1&2 impressed me and both are good games, just with nowhere near the depth of RDR2's world, which also excels graphically, so it's still RDR2 for me.

For me it was playing Windlands on a pre release psvr at egx in Birmingham NEC.

It completely amazed me I instantly went from not being bothered about vr to a must have product.

Wipeout on PS1 was a great leap from the 16bit era. Also introduced me to some amazing artists.
I remember going to an Amiga Users Club at Trentham Gardens (thousands of Amigas with xcopy loaded). One person had bought in an import ps1 with wipeout loaded. It looked incredible.

There's a place I've been told is quite cool near me in Hull called the ping pong club. They've goy a broad selection of stuff including a mega drive and a she's so it will be fun. They also have those arcade shooting frames with the pedal so should be a good night out.

Probably Horizon Zero Dawn for graphics. I remember my first battle with a Snapmaw under some trees and the entire color palette with the shadows of the trees casting over the entire scene to be stunning.

Witcher 3 is also up there for me

PES 2 on the PS2
GTA 3 on the PS2
Halo on the Xbox
FIFA 06 RTWC on Xbox 360
Gears of War on Xbox 360
Battlefield 4 and The Witcher on PC

All mainly because of the visuals or the immersion for the time.

I'm hoping once I go all out on a new PC soon and an OLED monitor something will blow my mind again.
