Whats best for cleaning the ubend?

Going on holiday soon and going to give my sister my key so she can get in to feed the fish.

However the upend in my toilet is quiet dirty, I think it'd just limescale build up. The rest of the toilet is immaculate. No skids or pubes.

I've tried thr harpic gel but it doesn't seem to have done anything.

Could I sand it?

The final solution is to get all the water out and use Hydrochloric Acid

After reading how to use it safely, its so strong that it can eat through the surface of the toilet if your not careful.

White vinegar and baking soda and then scrub with the toilet brush. Cheap and effective.

Stick your fish down there, they'll clean it up for you

I stick some bleach in the toilet and let it sit for an hour or so , usually takes out any grubbiness

I've done this before... Let it sit, and scrub it with the toilet brush. Repeat several times over a few days /weeks and it cleans up eventually.

I'd leave a floater for my sister, not sure why you're that bothered about it? Unless it's prone to block and not flush a big job properly?

Had success with these when faced with a similar problem, thanks to build up of calcified loofaff. Neat bleach is usually my solution to all loo problems, the Harpic/Duck type stuff has never impressed me much. #ShaniaDrain

Vinegar and leave it overnight. Don’t waste that acid goodness by putting baking soda in too.

Won't shift scale and once that gets stained its nigh on impossible to bleach it out

What about the u-bend under the kitchen sink? Just take it off and clean it whatever? We did that at our flat and it was rank, and then promptly leaked for two weeks Surely there's some good extendable brush things..
