It's not that bad, there are a few of them out there (the plug-ins). One uses Java suprise suprise.

Just downloaded the same 700 meg file from both Torrents and the Newsgroups.
The Torrent took 13hr 27 mins where the newsgroups took 32 mins.

Probably because newsgroups are subscription. Although popular torrents always max out my connection FWIW... so they wouldn't be any faster on newsgroups
