hi
i currently have 1gig of memory(2x 512mb of geil ultra pc4000, the thing is i want to add another gig of memory but if i use the same type of memory all the slots will be full, would this mean i couldnt run it in dual mode?
if someone can reccomend a better way of doing it i would be very grateful.

P4 systems are fine with 4x512Mb installed, just try and find something with similar timings to your existing RAM, ideally some more Geil PC4000 if you can find it.

i don`t really know much about memory, all i know is that when i put the pc together i put the memory in so it would run in dual channel mode(in the blue slots) apart from that i`ve never toched it

sorry to be a pain, but are geil ultra and geil ultra platinum exactly the same type of memory and if i buy 2x 512mb of geil ultra or geil ultra platinum pc4000 does this automatically mean that the timings will be the same as what i`ve already got installed?

Either should work fine, the system will default to whichever modules have the slower timings.

If its just left on auto you'll be running at PC3200 speeds, so any PC3200 with half decent timings will be fine.
