whats better,, man or offset vcore?

Offset is useful if you want your vcore to drop to 0.9v as your multiplier drops to 16x at idle (if you use SpeedStep / C states, that is).

If you use SpeedStep etc, and set the vcore manually, even when the multiplier drops to 16x, you still use the same vcore, which makes the multiplier drop kind of pointless :)

The thing about Offset is that it takes some fiddling/testing/patience to get to the correct settings. A combination of the + value and Load Line Calibration (i.e. eliminating vdroop under load).

i have put a - 0.005 offset to my cpu, the multi is 45 and it goes from 0.9 ish idle to 1.33-1.36 load do you think vthis is ok? i was using man before set at 1.325 and it was stable ill post some pics up later of temps and stuff

I use Vid + Offset with my overclock and have all power saving enabled. You will need to fiddle but worth it if your trying to bring down power consumption.

ive moved it to -0.005 and getting a max of 1.352 avg 1.344, its not really power consumption im bothered about, its mainly i odnt want 1.344 vcore on all the time say when its a 1.6 mhz, ive got it at 4.6 mhz at the mo, is it better to have it constanly at 1.34 for that sort of overclock?

is it better to have it constanly at 1.34 for that sort of overclock?

That's preference.

I'm happy to keep mine at 4.4Ghz @ 1.3v 24/7. Temps are low, and I'll replace this chip in a couple of years anyway. Saying that, with these volts, I doubt its making a difference to its life span anyway.

It's more to do with saving energy. With a set vcore and clock, my CPU uses 29W idle. With C states it idled at 5W (both 92W under load). Not too much difference really, might be a few extra pence a month or something :)
