He proberbly wants to play on all low settings at 800x600 to get uber high fps I guess, thats why most people want powerfull cards to play old games.

want to play all settings high at 1280x1024 and get "uber" high fps:D

whats the best ATI card you can get for 50 quid? plan to get another one later and go crossfire.

thanks.

is there ever any point getting old cards in crossfire/sli?

surely driver revisions don't address older cards and by the time you're hunting around for another 2600XT you would have been able to buy a 3870 for the same price and blown 2600XT crossfire out of the water?

and older games might not even have crossfire profiles?

Just get something like an x1950 series/8800GTS etc and keep updating rather than adding extra cards.

ok

my m8 has 2 x 7600GT in sli

i have an 8800GT 512MB OC

In the game we play (old) he gets very close if not higher fps rates to me. this brought me to the conclusion that 2 cards is better than one if you want fps in old games.

in cod4 its a different story. but the pc i am building right now will not be used for anything such as cod4. just cod1. (the old game:))

thankyoo again

something wrong there surely? Your GFX should own the living daylights out of his in every situation?

thats what i thought when buying it.

it performs how it should in games like crysis and cod4 etc. but not the game i play the most:(

so what would you recommend?

can't really suggest anything then, I'd even suggest if you're playing over t'internet etc he has a better connection than you.

GFX power is just NOT holding you up on that game.

Anyway, is the fps so high its way too high for you to be physically incapable of perceiving any increase?

1950pro by about 50%.

Ah sorry, i missed the whole 2*2600XT bit!

I would go for the 1950pro if it is just for CoD. It will probably give you more 100+fps which is just totally overkill. The CF solution might not even work depending on drivers etc.

lol im looking at atleast 333fps+

its for jumps and movement. we play competitively you see..

i get 333fps with my GT on most maps... just
