What’s going on with our justice system?

This is a total disgrace. How on earth has that woman who took a knife to a park, sat in wait for a victim and then then sliced a little girl’s throat, been cleared of murder but convicted instead of just manslaughter?

Docs say she hadn’t been taking her medication. To me, that’s not an excuse, but even more of a reason to convict of murder. If you fail to take medication that you know keeps your mind right, surely that adds to the culpability?

Disgrace?
It's ******* hideous.

Several people need to be burned over this and the previous violent incidents, including whatever **** certified her as well enough to be released into society in 2018.

IIRC to get "diminished responsibility" is extremely hard.

She'll probably end up in a secure psychiatric unit for far longer than she would have been in jail.

Stop being sensible. This is GD and it won't help.

She was convicted of manslaughter because she is insane. Floridly so. The fact that she went off her meds is neither here nor there. Psychotics frequently go off their meds because the side-effects are horrific. And, of course, if the meds work they don't think they need them. Which is part of the insanity. In civilised countries we do not punish insane people the way we punish sane ones because the difference is important. Which is why the CJ system is run be experts, not internet lynch mobs.

Whatever, she should still spend the rest of her life locked up

A paranoid schizophrenic who stabbed a girl to death in a park on Mother's Day was smuggled into the UK in a lorry and was sectioned for attacking her own family – but was considered well enough to be released into the community.

More to the point, why was this illegal foreign psychopath allowed to stay here in the first place?

Too right, how the hell can a person like this be allowed to walk the streets, I don't give two hoots what some so called expert has deemed to say the person was safe, the fact is the cretin should not even have been here. I, like many people on here have kids, and I can't even fathom how I'd feel if this happened to one of mine. Some heads need to roll here, we are talking about the safety of the public and people's lives letting idiots like these free, the justice system is a total failure in cases like these.

I've only just heard about this via these posts, and I'm bloody fuming.

Exactly, she'd threatened neighbours with a weapon before, she'd stabbed her own mother (what are the Mother and sister doing over here too?), she was originally denied asylum but somehow got leave to remain for a few years after an appeal.... and now she's killed someone.

Hopefully she gets deported if/when she's let out of whatever secure mental hospital she gets sent to.

Because our system and society is broken and full of idiots, We need a cull asap.

Well since most of the country has now turned its back on its Christian roots people now get their moral teachings from corporate media and celebrities on Twitter. If you use a broken/poor quality compass you're going to end up getting lost.

We aren't even able to deport murderers and rapists as a country because of people fighting to prevent it whilst believing they're on the side of good.

From mid-December of last year until March 11, the defendant had no face-to-face contact with her mental health workers, the jury heard.

How is someone with a violent history who is schizophrenic allowed to go 3 months without contact from a mental health organization!?

I keep seeing stories like this where a parole board or mental health organisation declare someone fit to re-enter society and it ends up costing others their lives. There's seemingly no political will to look into this and see where we're going wrong as a country. The immigration status of the attacker is just another example of a lack of accountability.

Because, oddly enough when you cut back on the funding for them, or privatise them to "increase efficiency" it tends to have a very negative effect on staffing levels...

Like the social services where they fail to follow up on cases and it's the social workers who are often doing the work that used to be done by 2 or more who get the blame rather than the people that have cut the funding to show how great they are at managing the public's money.

As someone with a 4 year old this case makes me sick. Such an innocent thing to be doing turned to absolute hell. Im honestly am pretty emotional about it.

First I understand the headlines here, but rest assured this women is never getting out of hospital. Its not going to be 'easy for her', any semblance of life this women had has been completely stripped away in an effort to help her. Problem is its pretty clear she's over the threshold for being helped (otherwise the murder charge would have sticked) so she's in purgatory until she dies.

Secondly her parents have actively come out in what are terrible circumstances to state that Emily's name should never be used in any anti-immigration rhetoric. Emily was a 7 year old who didn't have those grievances and that above everything should be respected.
