whats gone wrong?? help!

Hi all,

Over the last couple of hours, i have notice something really odd going on with my pc.

I keep getting green speckles flashing up randomly over the screen. It's quite hard to explain, but it seems to happen where there is a variation in colour (like on a picture). I have rebooted, left the computer off for a while, but it returns as soon as i boot back into windows

Is this my gfx card on its way out? or perhaps my monitor? specs below:

q6600 @3ghz
Sapphire 4870 1gb
asus p5q pro
4gb Geil
samsung pebble 22"
windows 7

Any advice would be great!

sounds like artifacts, check your temperatures, but yes sounds like a graphics fault.

Does sound like a problem with the gpu, is it possible to take a picture and post here.
What are the card temps like, running the latest drivers, is there a possibility of testing in another machine.

I just switched my old 8800gts back into my pc and all is fine, think its the gpu..

I guess i'll have to send the 4870 back.

, but double check temps and heatsink for dust, unless you done that already

Dont forget to check the cables, can cause similar problems it there is a bad connection.

Is the gpu overclocked?
I had 2 gainward 4870 do the same might be an RMA job.
