What's gone wrong with my TV?

This Samsung is only a few months old. It's been working fine, but today when watching football, I've noticed this in the bottom left hand corner.

Anyone got an idea of what the issue is. I'm sure Richer Sounds will not argue about taking it back.

Either part of the LED backlight has gone faulty, or the diffuser has creased.

Take it back to Richer sounds. New panel required.

Just read the guarantee. Because it's over 30 days old, they send someone to your home to service it.

Bit disappointed. Once a panels gone once, I can't really trust it anymore.

Trusting that it won't happen again.

It's as likely to happen again as any other brand new TV that would have used the panel that is going to be swapped into yours. You could try arguing for a whole new set but you're unlikely to have your wish granted. Let them at least try to repair it first.

I've had plasma panels swapped in an LG TV and an LCD panel swapped in a Samsung before, and other than the fact that I could actually watch TV as opposed to just listening to it, I couldn't tell that any work had been carried out. There was no damage or anything like that to the casing.

I had the panel replaced in my previous Sony Bravia a month or two after I got it when a similar thing happened (albeit it was CCFL-backlit so I had a dark patch across the middle of the screen); Amazon had no more stock as it was being discontinued so Sony had it collected, the panel replaced and returned to me. Worked fine since then until I replaced it last week with another Bravia.
