Hi.

I've been using Nero Vision Express 6 for the last couple of years for encoding.
Not so sure that this is that good a solution these days though.

What is the common application for converting these days?

Cheers.

Lol should have a sticky on this !!!

ConvertX2dvd is the ONLY program I use!! ;)

Did 3 dvd's on it this weekend! Perfect!

If your DVD player supports mpeg-iv you don't need to convert them. In fact I would just buy a mpeg-iv player rather than convert avi's to dvd's, you get inferior picture quality, and wasting discs/time for no reason...50 quid gets you a decent mpeg-iv player.

I missed an opportunity to pick up a DivX capable DVD player from Netto for £30 and kicked myself for not buying it. It is preferable to converting DivX to DVD. Especially as DivX files are a lot smaller than the Vob Files you get on DVD's so you can fit more on a DVD.

So I am still using CovertXtoDVD. I agree with all the posts that this is the only application to convert DivX with. Don't waste your time and money on anything else.

You can easily find Divx or mpeg4 capable dvd players for £30 just about anywhere. Even HD upscaling Divx players cost below £50 these days. Makes life sooooo much easier...

Thanks everyone. Very helpfull.

Any ideas how long this s/w will take to convert an average 1.5 hours film to DVD using an overclocked core 2 duo.

Thanks.

ConvertX2DVD :)

I find the Nero gives me a lot of sync issues, the above dosent and is worth the ££,

My rig takes 1hr to encode and burn an 700Mb AVI file on the default setting, I would expect yours to half that maybe.

I use nero 7 at the moment using an opteron 170, which program is the quickest?

get yourself a cheap second-hand Xbox (Original - not 360), instsall XBMC and it will play 99% of files you throw at it without worrying about conversion.
