Whats in your beer?

I can take some of the crap that goes into beer but i didnt know the average pint has mustard and sulphur dioxide in it! :eek:

I drank 'goon' in australia (stanley wines etc) which said may contain eggs and fish but when i buy beer it doesnt say that on the box anywhere.

In fact, there is nothing on a can of beer regarding contents or nutritional information (calories etc)

Honestly if you care about whats in your beer you should probably stick to the white wine and ABBA.

I like mustard, if it gets the flavour they want whats wrong?

And I';d like to know what chemical rubbish they're putting in the beer to clear it if they're not using issinglass (the fish you refer to in beer).

Oh and Sulphur in wine making is as old as the hills, again, if they're not using sulphur what other preservatives are being used?

It's too easy to say oh this is bad, don't do it, but these are natural products used for centuries - whatever they replace it with probably isn't.

ps. In the case of gluten free beers, their intention is making life easier for people with allergies, but your post is more about 'eeuugh fish in beer'.

So far as I'm aware beer is the only thing in my beer unless my brother has been using my glass as an ashtray again then theres also ash as well as beer in my beer!

beer is not a natural ingredient

there should only be hopps barley and wheat in your beer

which raises the question, gluten free beer..what's in it instead? the 3 ingredients are massively packed with gluten

American "beer" is generally the worst for additives, pretty horrible things go into their beers. Since I've switched to things like Becks, I don't really suffer from hangovers any more.

"Fish" as you put it - or Isinglass is one of the better ingredients used in beers / ales and many other alcoholic drinks.

The beer company you linked to will not tell you whats in their gluten free beers (apart from the fact they use buckwheat) and as far as I know, no one has ever seen their Shipley based brewing in action.

If there was a tour, I'm sure you would find all kinds of dodgy chemicals and additives you wouldn't expect in there (replacing the usual stuff we have come to expect in beers) - why don;t you send them a mail for a real complete breakdown of all the stuff they add (instead of just the stuff they have to tell you by law) - just to see what sort of response you get.

On a side note - they probably use Carrageenan (E-407) as a fining now (as do a lot of other brewers) - as they don't say anything about not using alginates (E400-E409)

It's a substance refined (using a chemical process) from seaweed.

Also used in Shampoo, Toothpaste, pet food and more commonly used in lots of 'personal' lubricants.

Now you can say your healthy beer has a 'personal' lubricant in it

You do the next morning! I get mega hangovers drinking over here yet when I am abroad I can drink double of stronger lager and not have a headache in the morning.

I asked about this in the Stella Artois bar in Brussels and they said that the Stella in the uk they need to add loads of perservatives and other rubbish whereas over there they don't hence you don't get hangovers.

Don't know whether that's true or not.

everytime i drink a stella, im sure the tin inside has melted a little, because all i can taste is metal/tin its horrible
