What's in your slow cooker today?

Chicken wings!

8 tblspoons of light soy
4 tblspoons of runny honey
4 squished gloves of garlic
4 chopped spring onions
2 teaspoons of hot chili powder
2 teaspons of paprika
Pinch of salt
Pinch of pepper
+
1.5 kiolgram of Chicken wings (tips removed)

Been on low for the past 6 hours; going to give it another 2 hours then a quick blast in the airfryer to crisp-up the skins. Reduce the remainder of the sauce for dipping!

please post a pic when its done, I am picking up my airfryer tomorrow.

Too late and I cooked a second batch on Sunday using a slightly different recipe. Binned the paprika in favour of two large dollops of Honey mustard plus I added half a diced red onion. Increased the bite considerably! You can eat the wings direct from the slow cooker if so desired; the meat just falls off the bone but I prefer to blast them in the air fryer in batches for a few minutes.

I'm going to cook another batch in a few days, so I'll take a pic then.

Sounds awesome. I love beef shin.

Unusual recipe though - I don't think coconut milk in a madras is standard is it?

Ah yeah, I should have mentioned that my son is allergic to cow's milk so we had to find a recipe that was ok for him as well. He's only two and a half years old but loved what he had of it!

Sorry to jump in here and ask this -

After reading a few threads on slow cookers today wife and I decided to to cook our shin of beef in oven - added all ingredients to pot - cover top of saucepan with foil - then lid and cooked it at 120c for 5 hrs - It was cooked in Manns brown ale with good blob of Bovril along with other seasonings and it turned out delicious. - We reckon we could turn heat down another 10c and it will still cook -

Previously she has cooked these on hob for about 3 hours but had to keep adding water or stock

Question is what temp does slow cooker use - Would we benefit from one - If so the one I was interested in was Morphy Richards digital because it has a light pot in it - (our saucepan is very heavy before it's even got anything in it)
Another good thing is nothing stuck to base of saucepan

We have enough for another meal tomorrow - Hmmmm

Cheers

Good slow cookers have adjustment temperatures, or at least low and hgih setting. The temperature they reach will depend on how much stuff you are cooking as the heating element is quite weak it doesn't keep up with a killed to the brim pot.

The main advantage of a slow cooker is they are much safer to leave plugged in while you are out for the day, plus they typically use less energy than heating an entire oven.

Guys please post pics it's the best part :)

Sorry, we've eaten it all but I'll be slow cooking a beef shin chilli next week so I'll post up pics of that then! My tikka masala is now in the freezer as we had enough for 3 meals! I only used 8 chicken drum sticks as well. I cooked them on the bone and after 8 hours they fell right off the bone. Unfortunately the pieces got a bit shredded so it didn't have big chunky pieces like normal curries, but it was kinda like a pulled chicken curry and for me it was lovely!
