Hey everyone,

Got a bit of a problem, we have a car that we need to get rid of, strongly avoiding fleabay as that place makes me cringe :p !

The car is a Jaguar XJS 3.6 Manual 1984, from what I have been hearing these cars don't hold their value to well, in fact I think the cover is worth more then the car :D .

But the real question i'm after is.

Whats it worth?

The interior is in pretty good condition, obviously with age it's picked up its share of rust and parts of the chrome bumpers have corroded.

Here's some pictures -

Unfortunately no, silly of me not to mention, it also needs a clutch and won't shift :D :p .

It was left to my dad after my Nan passed away and has been sitting under that cover for a few months now, before that it had been sitting in a garage for 10 years, still fires up okey :)

Looks lovely, really classey cars.

Shame your not going to do it up really, could be worth a bit then.

In its current form, £2200 - 2500

Do it up to mint, £5000ish

edit: new clutch and wont start, make that £1750ish

edit edit: okay, so it does start, £2k.

If you look at pistonheads they go from £4k - 7ish

don't forget its only the little 3.6 /\

I would not pay more than scrap value for a car that is basically a non runner with no mot/tax. (I know it runs, but if it won't shift gears and needs a clutch, its aa non runner in my book.)

I agree to an extent, but this is an 80's classic.

If I had the money I'd buy that off him, has potential.

Thanks for the input fellas :) , The only thing it needs to get it going is a clutch, then obviously it would have to go through mot and all that, wasn't expecting any more then £1000, but I think it's more of a case we need to get rid of the car as we need the room. Would love to keep it and restore it to full.

Good stuff, yea, if you get anywhere near 500 quid you'll be laughing so go for it! :)

Just a matter of finding the right nutcase at the right time :D

Considering that it's a manual, it may well be do-able :)

<(Multi)>, I won't pain you by telling you I passed up a mint, exterior & interior wise (but MOT'less) red 3.6 auto that looked stunning for 700 quid then.... :p

I didn't buy it though......Been off the road for a few years, god knows what it was like underneath. Easily spend more than the purchase price simply recomissioning one of these - Hence why they go for so little when they reach a certain state. It's more economic to spend a grand or two and just get a well sorted one.
