What's min spec for max performance of PiHole?

I'm thinking of having a go at setting up PiHole.

Is there any point getting the newest top-spec Raspberry Pi, or can an older or lower spec model get the same results?

My (inexpert) take would be to buy the newest one as it gives you more headroom for other stuff.
