What's on your desk? (A painting/modelling WIP thread)

Nice effect you got going there.

I tried to do some blending type stuff earlier but it just turned into a solid brown mess.

Update of my Liberator Prime. I made a right mess of the parchment as well as some of the highlighting ... but I need to finish it regardless, so I can see how a group of these looks when together.

Am happy with the cloak he has however, looks better NOT as a picture when a few feet away for sure.

Here is some stuff the missus and i are working on. We're starting hordes, I am playing skorne, and my wife is starting with everblight.

Everblight's Prime Lylyth

skin, isn't quite done. It is currently nearly finished, pics of that when its done with base.

Note:all the layering isn't finished, in fact on the toes for example I haven't started, also the face etc.

Been working on getting all my paint in dropper bottles as I am designing a wooden painting station on CAD to get laser cut and the eye dropper bottles take up less room on plan. That and they are cleaner!

Finally, after 3 bottles of medium (to thin the metalics slightly so they would pour in!) and 45 dropper bottles we have it! Takes up less room already and should save my paint brushes.

I wasted about 2ml paint from each pot of GW I had, but was happy to do so if it means less mess in the end. Also means my paints are already slightly thinned down.

To build pile;

z0M8Rlv.jpg.png

  • Terminator Assault Squad + ForgeWorld Terminator Shoulders
  • Terminator Chaplain
  • Space Marine Commander
  • ForgeWorld Ultramarines Venerable Dreadnaught + ForgeWorld Dreadnaught Right Auto Cannon + ForgeWorld Left Combat Fist
  • Assault Marines Squad
  • Vanguard Assault Marines
  • Tactical Squad x3
  • Sternguard Veteran Squad x3
  • Centurion Devastator Squad
  • Razorback + ForgeWorld Ultramarine door upgrades
  • Drop Pod
  • Ultramarine upgrades x5

Ignoring the Terminators; this is the basis of my Army (the Sternguard legs are going to be used for the tactical marines in 3x five man squads - special weapons will have standard legs and be swappable, although I'm not fixed on what to take as standard Grav or Plasma)

Can throw up my first army list if anyone is interested.

It is enough to keep me busy for a while :). I have got a little bit of time on my hands next month.

If you like organising paints, check this out (for ideas for your won if nothing else):

Warning: Cash funnel ahoy.

Wow, these look awesome! The modular stuff was something similar that I had thought of in my designs.. but yes, cash funnel! Basket is at £60 for something that would do me well... might be able to do it for cheaper with my stuff AND have the design to sell/maker later on. Well worth a look though, do like the corner pieces.

Have to say, the magnet idea is brilliant. Thanks for the link!

Ah, thanks handofbod. I wish I could list off some impossibly hard to replicate recipe ... but it's just a case of drowning it with a green wash, giving it some nuln oil and then a coat of 'ard coat!

Am very happy with them though considering how little effort each took (maybe 10 mins each).

Not found as much time for painting lately but still working on my Necron overlord. Terrible photos it feels but it will have to do until it's done and I can take some proper ones with a backdrop and everything.
