Asking this on behalve of a mate that's thinking of moving there, down from Liverpool. I've never been there and cannot advice him if it's any good or not. He mainly needs to be close to the M25 (which Potters Bar is ideal for), and the train running from PB to Central London takes about 30min methinks. Any opinions?

It's a fairly small surburban area just outside of London like all the places near it really.

I would say that it is nicer out of some of the places near by but there aren't amazing amounts to do in the area, except go into London.

Ok, will let him know then :p . I've told him to look towards the Loughton area. He is adament about not living too close to central London. Loughton or New Barnet.

why doesn't he look at southgate/cockfosters? I live in oakwood (southgate area) and it takes me 10min to get on the M25, 10 min to get on the north circular and tube station 5 min from my house taking me 30 min to get into city. and bonus is it's a very nice area.

potters bar has a train station which runs to kings cross which is pretty sharpish. I work in southgate which is ok as well, not a dump but wouldn't love to live here either.

Loughton is a lot better, but a lot more expensive. Loughton has lots of very hot rich daddy's essex girls. I live 1 junction away from Potters Bar on the M25, it's not so bad.

Loughton seemed quite nice when I drove down there the other weekend. Plus it has an amazing frieworks shop :D

Actually just came back from Loughton. Does not seem that expensive. Can get a good two bedroom place for around £800 PCM. Buckhurst Hill also seemed nice and leafy when I drove through it just now.
