What's so bad about Vectra's?

The signum is just a vectra with 4 seats you're right, just less of then about.

The a4 is a decent car, just avoid muktitronic as it will break, also the avant is tiny boot wise for an estate (If you actually need the space)

Don't need the space, just love the way the avant looks :)

My father in law used to drive a Vectra, several years ago following on from numerous years of driving Cavaliers.

At around the 80k mile region the brakes decided to pretty much pack up as he was coming up to a roundabout, so he drove onto the garage forecourt, stalled it in gear, popped to their toilets, changed his underwear, came out and part-exchanged it for a Skoda! :D

I've had two Vectra's, petrol & diesel. No significant problem with either of them.

I use cars for "transport" & the Vectra's gave the same "transport" as a Mondeo at a lot less money :)

If I want performance / handling etc I use my motorbike ;)

The interior and dashboard were out of date when they built the car, now its even worse. Other than that I don't think they are terrible, yes the mondeo was a better car but now commands a premium over the vectra.

The 1.9 CDTI 150bhp is the one to go for but also come with a raft of standard problems including DPF, broken/clogged ERG valve, swirl flaps and a the whole transmission is made of chocolate.

Edit: vectra-c.com seems to have a fair wack of info, so could be worth a look see.

I've been running a Vectra 3.0 diesel for almost three years now. Needed a cheap big car when urchin number two arrived and it's been fine. It's terrible for ride and handling but I knew that when I bought it. It's just about quick enough with the 3.0 v6 though and long motorway trips with the kids are very stress free.

I have a friend who bought an almost identical one at around the same time, although his is an estate with the 1.9 diesel. His has been a nightmare so maybe I just got lucky?

I've had a 2.2 Sri direct with the 6 speed box for 4 years now, only thing that has been an issue was the high pressure fuel pump. there was an issue with the bosch pumps (mine had a new one fitted every year for the first 4 years of its life, I bought a Siemens pump which took 15 mins to replace and its fine now. Apart from this, it returns 40-45+mpg and had had no other issues at all. It really excels on the motorway..
