What's the best game intro you have ever seen(best looking)?

syndicate wars had a decent intro for its times

as did thunderhawk on the amiga voiced animated intro on a floppy!!!

but the most stunning intor has to be best Westwoods brill movie tie-in of Blade runner the finest use of a voxel based game engine and the cut scenes were fab too

I can't even remember the Dune 2 intro even though it was one of my favourite games ever!:( My mentat powers are failing me! BRING ME MORE SPICE!!

In other news, The Q2 cinematic intro was the first one that made me go WOW! But I have to concede that HL's in-game player-controlled intro was by far the more effective for setting the scene and drawing you into the action. I think the Max Payne intro deserves a nod too, as it starts off with a cinematic, moves to comic book panels, then you get the scene of Max arriving home where you think the game has started but it turns out to be more like a HL-style in-game intro, catching you off-guard.

For sheer humour though you can't beat the intros of the old-school puzzle adventures! Sam&Max was hillarious, the credits in the Space Quest intros were always worth reading for the odd laugh, and the dancing monkeys in Monkey island 2 never fail to raise a chuckle even today:D

most of the Mech warrior game intros
Mech Commander intro
Yep, i think the Mechwarrior & Mechcommander intros were just great.

The ChromeHounds movie looks good too, wish it came out on the pc though.

Speaking of the 'in-game' intros mentioned above (HL/MP), Unreal is excellent in this regard too. The opening level doesn't feature any combat at all, but it is very atmospheric and sets the scene well, with the diaries, screaming, flickering lights etc. It also brought us this a good 6 months ahead of HL.

Dark Reign. Around the same time as Total Annihilationa dn very underrated as a game. The intro to the game and addon well damn nice for the time.

The Shadow of the Beast 2 intro was the first time i remember my jaw dropping on seeing an intro. I'll need to fire it up, but didnt the intro go something along the lines of "Oblivious to the danger on wings from on high" or something to that effect. The claw coming through the roof and snatching the baby.

Im also rather fond of the CGI scenes from Blood Omen : Legacy of Kain. Most recently the Dawn of War intro is the most impressive intro i've seen.

Gran turismo 1 and the resident evil games really impressed me and my friends. The most recent game would have to be FEAR.

Such a good intro. I remember thinking the graphics were so good.. The PC I ran it on was so old I don't even remember the spec. :D

Any of the Mechwarrior intros. You can't go far wrong with big stompy mechs.

Have to agree with the Mechwarrior intros there :)
